This time it's Jerry Lee Lewis covering another old Jimmy Rogers classic.
And Jerry Lee covering Hank Williams the best of them all who have, imo.

Not one of my favorite Shania Twain songs in listening to, but one of her videos that I like to watch. Along with Shania, I like checking out some of the old cars as well.

That one has a fetching '70s crossover quality to it that you'd expect to hear on the FM waves back then.......but it's a '90s tune. I like.
That be Tiny Moore on that oversize mandolin and Roy Nickels with Eldon Shamblin boppin' the guitars.

Upon returning home to Carolina from WW2, G.I.s found that UNC had banned dogs from married student housing. Protest ensued.

Am I hearing just a little bit of Hendrix in here?
Junior Brown and Lee Roy Parnell are a tearin' up this old Tennessee Ernie Ford tune.

The Big Show in LV last weekend, was a collection of Country music acts I've never heard of,
but I expect their appearance fee paid, to each , was not worth it, to them considering.

I've been familiar with Jason Aldean for several years now, and he was the performer on stage at the time of the shooting.

I'd say that's probably an understatement, and will be with him for some years to come.

I remember this one from an 8-track country hits tape my dad had in the sixties.
It wasn't until the internet came out that I was able to find this snappy little known song again.

Has anyone heard of Earl "Stoney" Calhoun? AKA the Country Gentleman? I stopped at a cemetery in southern Wisconsin while riding my motorcycle years ago and ended up stopping by his grave. It had a picture of him on the gravestone and I got to wondering who he'd been. Thanks to the interwebs I found these 2 songs of his but little else.

What little I could find about him said he played the bars for years in Milwaukee. It looks like these 2 records were the only recordings he made.

Yeah the slow one was probably flip side for a 45 that the band paid to have recorded. And you could hire studio musicians but I'll assume they wouldn't have paid for those. Their influences show in the first one though.

Cover of another Bob Wills tune by Merle
Here's another Jimmie Rodgers song that Merle Haggard just does a first rate job on. This was Jimmie's last before dying of Tuberculosis (then aka 'consumption'). I love the lyrics in the first and last verse.

PBS documentary Introducing Roy Buchanan 1971
As excerpted from here
This isn’t bad if you like Merle (Haggard) singing Jimmie Rodgers and Lefty Frizzell songs while Roy Nichols and Roy Buchanan duel on Telecaster.(Starts at 17 minutes of the video) The video is part of the 1971 PBS documentary, Introducing Roy Buchanan, however it’s also known as The World’s Greatest Unknown Guitarist, a more accurate statement and as true now as it was back then, sadly. Introducing is a fascinating look at a musician who inhabited a different reality than the rest of us, and that quality came out in his (inter)stellar, adventurous playing. I like that he admits to a heavy Nichols influence because it’s important for the genes of both Roys to be passed on.
