iPhone 6
Took me a couple of hours early in the AM, but by 5:39AM EDT I had figured out a way into the Apple Store to pre-order a new gray/black iPhone 6 with 64gb of memory (Verizon). The Apple Store was all vapor-locked, but then online chatter informed me that I could download the iPhone app for the Apple Store and get in to pre-order a phone on my mobile. I managed to do that. My promised delivery date now is Sept. 19th. I understand phones ordered 12 hours later (like in the afternoon) are being quoted for delivery times way out in mid to late October.
Overwhelming demand. Should help my AAPL stock. They're going to have a helluva quarter. Looking forward to this phone, it's like 10% smaller than a Galaxy 5s but I'm sure the hardware will make the Samsung look like a Walmart cheapie rack special and for giving up a little screen space you'll have a phone that's WAY easier to carry around in your pocket and handle with one hand.
You can't beat Apple industrial design. You can only knock it off badly, and that's what the competitors generally tend to do, regardless of how many lawsuits they lose/Apple wins. The courts can never adequately compensate Apple for the IP that the rest of the world has blatantly poached anyway. Apple is finally starting to realize that.
Ultimately all that competition, fair or unfair, benefits consumers and in the end Apple as well. Drives everybody. I'd agree with the Android fanbois that Apple should have had these larger phones a year ago and that Apple is responding to the innovation of others here. But the big innovation was the original iPhone, and ultimately Apple does it better for the MOST part (nothing's absolute in tech). Anyway, cool new stuff on this phone, looking forward to it. My old iPhone 5 has a cracked screen anyway (don't they all?).
Sapphire may be coming eventually but it's too supply chain constrained, pricey and problematic in the meantime. A broken smart phone screen is $100-$150 anyway, hardly the end of the world.

I've had to suffer through using 3 different phones in the last year. I've always used a BB for work (love the keyboard, but I found the phone to be unreliable). We got a Galaxy 5S when we moved on to an acreage instead of getting a land line ... which is WAY too big to lug around, and now my company has switched to the iPhone 5. I'm a self-proclaimed luddite, so all this switching is a PITA.
All in all though, I'd have to say the iPhone is the most comfortable and user-friendly.

I think Apple lost manufacturing quality in the 5. Had 2 and had trouble with both screens de-laminating. Got a Samsung G4 and initially hated the Android OS. Now that I have had it a year and can print documents directly to most bluetooth printers, I like the G4 and seriously doubt I will head back to Apple. Anything I miss about the iPhone, I have on my iPad.
..when my battery needs to be replaced, I do it myself.

I pulled the trigger on an iPhone 6 too. Had my 4S 4ever and the battery has been limping along lately. I've held off for so long because my car has a specific cradle for the 4s that gives me access to pandora and some other bmw applications that I've come to love. BMW hasn't come out with a similar cradle for the 5 yet or they may just have but I haven't bothered to go to the dealer to let them test it on my 2013 car. Needless to say, they''ll probably have an iPhone 6 cradle ready by the time the iPhone 7 is launched. Guess using bluetooth or a cable is going to have to do for me until I need a new car. Anyway, looking forward to getting my new phone. I like the design on this one. Wasn't too keen on the 5 series.

Those android idiots should thank God Apple was around to poach or they'd all still be using Blackberrys and swearing by the physical keypad they can't live without.

Apple phones are unattractive bricks and are for lemmings. Pull one out and, 'Oh an iPhone...' big whoop.
That said, to each their own.

The companies borrow good ideas from each other, as it should be. Imagine if every automaker had their own implementation of how pedals should be arranged.

I had mine for 3.5 years and it still worked well. I decided to upgrade it to the latest OS because apps that I wanted to load demanded it. One of the biggest problems with the iphone is itunes, probably one of the worst pieces of software in common use today. It would backup my phone but then after loading the new OS it would not restore it. I thought well maybe if I get a new phone it will restore to it so I got a new 5S. Well crappy POS itunes would not restore to the new phone either, so I lost my backup.
The 5S works fine, and I do enjoy having 4G instead of 3G. I would upgrade to a 6 but it will be a long time before I'm eligible to upgrade. (I need to find someone that wants to buy a good used 4.)
I won't go with Android because the leading phones are Samsung and I've already had the bad experience with a Samsung phone. In my experience Samsung is one of the few companies that hates their customers more than Apple does.

Whatever moron @ Samsung really thinks it's a good idea to base their marketing campaign on Apple bashing should be fired. But they're doing Apple a favor. Negative marketing almost always backfires.

Who isn't? Watch and learn as Apple blows out the numbers to the moon this quarter.
Mine should be here in a week or so. But then my iPhone 5 cracked glass keeps getting worse. I hope I drop the iPhone 6 less.

The iPhone 3,4 and 5 were easy one hand operation. The Samsung isn't easy to hold and text single hand without using voice. I am thinking the 6 may be similar to Samsung in that regard. Personally, I liked the size and shape of the 4s.

I'm not. I'm perfectly happy with my cheapo Moto G and cheapo Republic Wireless service. I use my phone as a tool. It makes phone calls, sends/receives text messages, takes pictures, has maps, has navigation, and does pretty much everything else I need. It also feels nicer in my hands than the iPhones I've played with. I don't have a desire for a large screen with super high resolution, NFC payments, or really any of the new features phones come with.
I do wish it had a better camera though.

I've yet to see a camera on a phone that is good enough to replace a standalone.

Nice to see Apple finally caught up with NFC, something that Android and Blackberry have had since 2010 and 2011 respectively.
