Set it to standard-def 480p. Who cares about progress?

The TV physically has a 720p resolution (number of lines in the screen). A PS3 (Playstation 3) can output up to 1080p but your TV will downconvert that to 720p. Typically TVs contain a scaler that can have special "gaming" modes or conversion settings (e.g. to playback 1080p 24fps bluray content, etc.). I'd set the TV to use the standard 720p. If you're playing a lot of games try the other setting to see if there is an improvement.

Looks like its actual resolution is 720p. I echo what Greg_R said above. If the PS3 is allowing you to set 1080p, the TV is just downscaling to 720p. I doubt you'll do any harm to your TV.

Check out this site

AntennaWeb - Home

It will make recommendations on what kind of antenna to get based on your address.
