Growing up in rural Ontario, we never saw Checkers as cabs, and not at all until an entrepreneur decided to bring them up from the US refurish them and sell them.
The local veterinarian bought one. He wanted a trunk for his bag and meds, but wanted a big back seat to transport dogs and cats if needed. Worked for him, he loved it.

Train car, amphibious bus with a satellite dish, or rickshaw/cart/carriage/wagon/chariot that can be pulled by anything, such as a lawnmower, horse, dogs, bike, etc.

Like the old farmsteads in Norway where the house was over the barn to get heat generated from the livestock below , may make a warm Double decker .

The Geo Metro of course. Perfect for the person who's interests are digital and a car is just a way to get to the job/Con/store and back.

Second choice, a Prius

The beetle and prius were my first thoughts. There are sects of nerds for almost every car though. The italian car enthusiasts here are regarded as particularly nerdy I believe. Unimogs are for the renaissance man nerd.

If there was a "head up your butt" car I'd vote Hummer.

Volvo 240 wagon, the '70s-'90s boxy one. Easy to maintain, somewhat hackable for performance, decent mpg, engineered for safety, huge loadspace in back with the seat folded down.
No pretense, low cost and configurable says "nerd car" to me.
