How to cross-post

Hi

Is there a way to cross-post to different subforums? I have seen people mentioning it, but I see no way to do it. An example: a clyde looking for a new cyclocross/gravel bike, the post might belong to both Clydesdale and Athenas forum and Recreational Cyclocross/Gravel biking.

Thanks for any help.

We discourage cross posting. In fact, there is even a forum rule against it.

"You need only post the topic once. Posting in multiple locations creates multiple streams of commentary to which many forum members are not even aware of the other comments. It also fragments the ability of members and staff to answer and potentially solve the member's problem."

Thanks for the answer! Sorry, I somewhat loosely interpreted the word ``cross-post''. I thought there was a way to somehow make the same thread with all the replies visible in the two subforums simultaneously and that people who mentioned "cross-posting" referred to this feature. Then my question is a "forum suggestion" rather than "user assistance".

It may have many disadvantages, some people will abuse it. Maybe it can be enabled for users with some minimal post count. I understand that it can make things more complicated for the moderators and that it is not a highly demanded feature.

Forums search and even search engines should be able to find your thread. You can add tags to the post that should help others find it in search. Please keep the tags related to the topic and try to be concise.

Cross-posting isn't a good thing because it leads to two sets of replies and then confusion over where this or that is. Moderators can splice the two together but it is normally frowned on. Newbie mistake.

If a member is trying to get a post count up to allow participation in PMs or certain forums, they are encouraged to make a real contribution here and there instead of just making 10-12 consecutive posts that say I'm jacking up my post count to do this.

I think you still have some misconception about what you're asking about. Place the thread where you think it belongs. Moderators will be happy to assist you and move it if needed, but also remember that it will REDIRECT to the new location if clicked on in the former spot.
