Also chiming in with the same complaint; infinite loop of redirects to "facebook.com-newegg.com" etc. Net effect is that viewing threads is an utter impossibility. Very unimpressed with IB's advertising partners.

More fake Facebook ad spam pop-up on Android.

https://www.facebook.com-newegg.com/lokllllll?eid=son&pid=bikeforums.net&Wr2hW6ah=1517502999107170#

As you can see, the domain "com-newegg.com" is total baloney.

I'll contact newegg and let them know some spammer is using their company name. They're likely unaware.

I am also getting these. I just saw this thread, so I'll take some screenshots on my phone next time it happens. It's frustrating because hitting the back button just closes the tab instead of taking me to the thread I wanted to view.

It's obvious that the spammer is hosting the fake page on Amazon Web Services. You can tell by looking up the domain in Whois, since their name servers point to Amazon's.

Fortunately, Amazon provides an easy way to report it.

https://aws.amazon.com/forms/report-abuse

IB tech or legal should utilize the above link to report the spamming and have Amazon take the landing page down.

I've gotten that exact same redirect a few times now too.

This thread gave me a potential phishing warning in Outlook.com, other times I've had subscribed threads drop into the junk mail folder simply because of the number of emails sent to me from here...FYI

I know that's not true but the subjects seemed to have triggered that.

Is anybody else getting "congratulations!" pop-ups?

I only get them on my phone or tablet, and only while on BF. Actually only while on threads, not on the C&V page.

They come in triplicate: First Amazon, then YouTube, then Walmart. Amazingly, they have the same list of past winners who swear they "thought it was a scam, but got the $1000 in the mail."

I have pop-ups blocked, and do not have this issue on my WinXP desktop. The browser on my phone is Samsung, and on my tablet is Silk, but I tried Chrome and still getting the issue. They do not go away, even with reboots, and it's regardless of WiFi or 4G.

Anyone else? Among the many, many, many, many things that tick me off, this is the latest.

Rant done. (but the lady sounds kind of cute)

Its an Internet Brands thing. I occasionally get them on a different IB site. Install ad blockers on your devices.

Last summer I was getting a similar relentless "winners" scam (this one for a free iPhone) on my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone. I was using the default Chrome browser and couldn't solve the problem, so I switched to the Brave mobile browser and haven't had a problem since.

FYI: Brave for PC is still buggy.

It's the Silk browser. I get the same pop-ups occasionally on my Kindle Fire tablets. Amazon often lags behind a bit in updating Silk to handle the latest annoyances from pop-ups, etc. There have been some recent updates so I'm betting Amazon is rolling out mods to minimize those pop-ups.

Most of the pop-ups and spam/scams I see on my mobile devices -- Kindle and Android phones -- are via Facebook links.

I've never seen a pop-up on bike forums via the mobile version on my tablet or phone. But I'm forced to use ad blockers on the computer browsers. I'd like to disable them for bike forums to benefit from the traffic, but the ad server is so poorly implemented it's impossible. Even with my faster quad core PC and upgraded internet, bike forums ad servers are incredibly sluggish. So I'm forced to use ad blockers on Chrome and Firefox. It's not bad with Puffin browser for Windows, which is a very fast browser, but the current version is a beta and feels raw and a bit buggy and glitchy.

Clear the cache of the Internet browser app. If that does work, clear the cache and the app data.

I find these scams offensive and bad.

I rarely use Bike Forums on my phone, and will probably generally stop using Bike Forums when traveling in the future.

I get the Newegg one quite often. Congratulations you have won ... another stupid popup. I found that if I go to the actual Newegg web site, and open it, then close it, the pop up goes away ... till next time. The main effect is that I would never, ever buy anything from Newegg, never ever, if that's their strategy, it worked for me.

These are forced-redirects using Javascript.
(Note: Javascript, not Java; They are two unrelated languages)
A temporary workaround is to disable Javascript in the browser, but that breaks some things.
Report it in this thread: https://www.bikeforums.net/forum-sug...reen-shot.html

Lately, I'm getting texts from marijuana dispensaries. But I don't text, and sure as heck never gave out my number to them or anything remotely related. I'm actually kinda paranoid about giving anyone my #, for just that reason. 🙄

It's a feature, not a bug.

I never come here on a mobile device.

Rarely come here anymore at all.

Try Puffin for your mobile devices, Android or iOS. Fast, even with the ads running, and no pop-ups so far after four months using Puffin on my Android and iOS phones.
