I understand the way you're thinking, however, the main point to consider;
It ONLY OCCURS when visiting the bikeforums.net web site.
It's not just Samsung devices. Some have reported scam pop-ups using apple devices, and a few months ago I was frequently getting the "Congratulations.. you won.." pop-up using an Ipad II. I stopped using the Ipad, switched to the Samsung tablet and it started getting the Four Virus alert.
Again, I want to emphasize, it ONLY happens when visiting BIKEFORUMS, therefore imho, the pop-up is tagged/triggered from the Bikeforums.
So, while I agree with your thinking the pop-up is taking advantage of certain devices, I think the pop-up itself is embedded into the bikeforums web site acting on specific devices where there's a weakness in the pop-up blocking. If the pop-up was a valid advertisement it wouldn't be as annoying (for lack of better words), but, these pop-ups are scams bordering on malware.

I don't understand the admins that seem to think that this is somehow not an issue. You are selling ad space to ad networks with no quality control. It's far too easy to take over a mobile browser using ad technology that doesn't control that. Websites like that are literally useless. It has nothing to do with anything except the people you are selling ad space to.
I also use an ad blocker. Glad I do from the looks of it.

Can't use my iphone to visit the site again today for the same reasons as above...
Do you just not know which ad's are causing this? Last year when I was using IOS 10 I kept getting redirects to the ap store to buy some stupid online poker crap. This time around I have IOS 11 so maybe that's stopping it from even going to the ap store. However I get sent to the data page thing with all the "jibberish" above. I was hoping it might be code for someone able to read it.
Or is it because forums in general are dying as more and more of the younger kids are using Faceb00k? Are you just trying to survive and thus having to sell ad space to undesirable companies just to keep above water? If you remove the ad's then they remove your money so do we just have to deal with it?

I use an iphone 8 and this crap has been insidious. I couldnt do a single click after login and worse, it was getting bad enough without a login. I just popped back in tonight and found it to be gone for now. I really hope this is fixed. Thank you for your help!

This is really odd.
For several months this past summer, I got re-directed by that ad crap every damned time I accessed BF from my iPhone 6s, but no other sites caused me problems.
Now I have gone for weeks w/o problems, but I see others are having problems.
I have not changed a thing, (other than installing iOS updates ASAP).

That is a great point. Everyone should make sure they are running the most current OS their device will allow. I just updated to high sierra on my home computer and I love how safari stops audio from automatically playing.
This is really odd.

So two days ago it got so bad I couldn't click on anything with out getting the "open in app store" crap so I quickly switched to mobile mode and then painfully used the site for two days with no issues. Well other than the issue of spending big money on a smart phone only to use a mobile ap that makes the forum look like I am using a early 2000's flip phone that is.
So earlier today I switched back to desktop mode, having also upgraded from IOS 11.1 to 11.2 last night too fyi, and no problems this morning, but just now I tired using the iphone and got the "open in app store" crap again.
So Having the up to date IOS does not help. Using the mobile ap makes it go away completely. Using the desktop ap is where the problem is.

I get pop-ups/redirects from this site fairly often, but not regularly when using iP7 (and through several iOS iterations now). It only happens on this site. The actual wording in the redirect/pop-up is variable, but commonly like this one, which ocurred on Dec. 5th:
I should add that, as you can see, these are usually redirects, i.e. they try to take you off to another URL. Usually I just close the window and reopen a new one and nav back to BF. This is using the desktop interface, not the mobile site. I do not use the mobile site (I don't like the reduced usability), so I cannot comment on what happens there.

BF gets ads from a vendor, nobody is selling ads here. In order for them to take care of problematic ads you have to help them IDENTIFY them so they can report them to that vendor. (HINT: I believe it's those guys that run a tube thing).
And for the member who came here in 2001, Bike Forums was sold to Internet Brands in around 2007, just before I got here I think. If you wondered what happened to Joe Gardner, that's what.
And you are right, it is all about the ads...and all about the mobile devices. I've been reading up.
PS I would just lose a cellphone. I sometimes put the cordless handset in my coat pocket and find it there at mom's house 40 miles away...it doesn't work much unless you are a zombie.
Still, nobody is trying to make your lives a living Hades. And this isn't the only site you would have these problems on, you just aren't a member of any of the other Internet Brands forums sites, all of which use this corporate specific platform version. You aren't going to get scabies and die from it. I know, even if limes and oranges aren't cheap out of season.
When we went to vBulletin 4 about five years ago the griping was sky-high while they were adjustign the vertical and horizontal, but it was our input to Tom Stormcrowe that got it resolved and so too with this.
PPS I'm not a cheerleader, I can't save the world and I can hardly get a leg over the top bar some daze.

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the hard work in getting this addressed.
I am of course being completely sarcastic because I can not make a single click anywhere on this site right now from my phone without getting redirected in desktop mode.

Do what I do...
Build your own PC from used and often free parts and make it work. I also have dumb phones that plug into the wall/gateway and if I ever take my cordless handset with me I can be sure it won't work more than a block away.
These are the joys of spending money on food, clothes, rent, bike parts and occasional records.
Then again I really like using old, germy linen portraits of dead American statesmen and metal coins to buy stuff too. It's just like Christmas.

If it helps you any, those things pop up just about anywhere, I don't buy from Amazon, they just hope you do and will react to it, possibly taking the bait. They don't care who you are, or where you are, they possible know the site they are bothering and a script adds the right words and phrases...
Have you ever seen one of those scripts completely fall apart and give you all the options?
I HAVE...hee hee.

One of the most frustrating things can be that you block/blacklist something and they change it just enough or something so that it looks the same but it's not and if you go to block it again you get told you already did...at least in IE. Reporting the site and FULL URL can allow the ad provider (Google even) a chance to go whomever is trying to impersonate them, but most would rather block/delete the ads that let Google etc know, which is ironic and pretty sad as it would go unchecked.
