There are some Threads with 100-200 views and 2-3 replies. There is one thread in Bike Mechanics that has 8842 views and 8 replies. Does anyone have an explanation for this? I find this a little curious...Thanks,mjac

Okay, serious suggestion, it appears that there are many people who use bikeforums but do not contribute to it.There seems to be a handful of people with the experience and knowledge who are willing to share their advice that are carrying the whole website. It is only fitting that this handful of people receive some sort of recognition for what they do. As you have profile tags such as "senior member" etc., identify the people who actually contribute and create a tag for them, such a "contributor" or some such...Thanks,mjac

I don’t see the problem, sir. It’s a common phenomenon, some people like to talk and some don’t. Also, the more interesting a topic is the more posts it will draw. There are many other reasons which would readily come to light if you just post this same query in Foo.

I did not identify it as a problem, I said I was curious about it, do not misrepresent what I said. It is way too disproportionate between the number of views and the number of replies. I was wondering why more people don't contribute. It is just too disproportionate. Your analogy is flawed. There is obvious interest if a thread receives 8,842 views. But there are only 8 replies. See the difference between the two numbers? I was wondering what other people's opinion was as to why this is, that's all. I am fairly new to this forum and where things are supposed to go.I do not know what Foo is...Thanks,mjac

Yes, the explanation is that some threads get more replies than others. Experienced bikeforum members know the best threads are about chain lube, so if you want a lot of replies, a thread about chain lube is the best way to achieve that.
