Can DMs from another member be blocked?
 

Is there way to block private messages from a particular forum member? If not, is it possible to block all private messages?

This forum software is somewhat old now that software such as Xenforo has come to the forefront. In any software, much depends on how the software is toggled behind the scenes. It's been a while since I was in a position to flip the switches on vBulletin, but you might find that blocking the user will prevent DMs. I almost hate to suggest that, because you've probably already blocked the user...

At any rate, I'd be happy to participate in an experiment to test that idea.

As for blocking all DMss, isn't there a toggle in the User CP to accept DMs only from moderators/Admins?

If I understand the settings correctly, I can't specifically block private messages from you alone. My options are to block everyone (except moderators), or block everyone that isn't on my contact list.

My apologies, I am not using the correct terminology. What I am suggesting is that you go into your User CP, go down to "Edit Ignore List" and add me to the list. Then I'll send you a DM, and we'll see if my being on your ignore list prevents you from either receiving or seeing a DM from me.

As of last year I was receiving DMs from people on my ignore list. If that's changed that would be wonderful.

It probably hasn't; vB is old. It tends to be more 'Opt In' than 'Opt Out'. It should be written so that you can opt not to get DMs from people you are 'blocking', not opting to get DMs from a list of contacts that you have to create.

However, hope springs eternal...
