I can't believe 'j a z z' is censored.
I posted in a 'what music are you listening to' thread, and I unfortunately can't mention one of the few native American art forms, because I guess it's close enough to a three-letter term for posterior that 'ja z z' comes out looking a little strange.
Let's try this... 'j*** and blues'
See?
Why is this done? I can understand censoring the true swear words, but now you're falling down the slippery slope of good intentions gone awry. IMO the answer isn't widening the filters until you get every possible way idiots try to get aroiund it; the answer is strong moderation, with reliable consequences for violating forum rules.
Hope this helps.

schnee, the problem is that you are thinking logically. Have you seen some of the threads in various forums lately?

No further comment is necessary, except to mention that this is the PUBLIC face of Bike Forums. Do you like what you're seeing?

It doesn't--it's a reference to 'strong moderation, with reliable consequences for violating forum rules.'
My reference to the public face is in regard to new (and not so new, but enquiring) members seeking to have simple questions answered. I've already asked why there is no proper link for FAQs and not received an answer (as a FAQ would have answered some of the questions posed), but it's odd that only one moderator lately has come down and answered some simple questions.
I haven't a clue why j a z z can't be spelt out. And I'm guessing that no one will bother to explain why, just as no one has answered most of the last six or seven questions asked in this forum.

Schnee, you can jazz it up all you want now. Sorry if that made you kind of blue. It was an effort to catch people trying to go around censors, but had some unintended consequences.
Cheers,

As long as we're talking about Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Chet Baker, we're fine. If you were thinking Kenny G, well, that should be censored out.

Isn't jazz from a Creole word jass meaning strenuous exercise, esp. sexual intercourse?

Also see "jism".

Look dude, all due respect to moderation powers, but if you mention Kenny G in the same breath as the greats, I'm gonna have to beat you with my Duke Ellington Centennial Collection (i.e. the 24-disk box set).
It's just not right.
PS, yes I know he's more of a precursor to Jazz, but still, you gotta know the roots.
