Okay, I'd not used 'Attachments' for image posting previously, and wanted to check and verify that it worked here before commenting.
I'd like to say that, well-intentioned though it most certainly is, this thread would have to be one of the worst 'How to post pictures' threads I've seen in ages. Please don't take me the wrong way, as being overly critical. I agree with the above comment, that a 'Step by step' guide would be more helpful to newcomers. I'm also concerned that this thread contains at times poor advice.
Using photobucket for image storage would be one of the worst choices to make, because photobucket images expire after a period of time. there are 'broken' image links all over the place in older threads here. It'd be better to advise the use of a service which retains images permanently, so they don't expire.
In addition, the advice given about linking images people find on websites elsewhere is rather poor advice indeed. 'Hot-linking' images is an internet etiquette "No-no", for the most part anyway. For starters it is an exercise in 'stealing bandwidth' which other people are paying for, for seconds there are possibly copyright considerations to consider, and hot-linking images from other websites is an exercise in advertising the copyright breaches conducted, and finally there's always the risk that, if an image is linked from a site where the owner is a nasty little bugger your image might well be replaced with a particularly nasty or explicit one!
I'm not saying the above to condemn. I'm simply saying it to explain, because I'm offering to do up a replacement. I'm not only a quite experienced internet forum admin, but also a capable enough IT journalist who would be quite happy to do up a 'professional quality' How to do it guide for this forum if a replacement one is wanted. Just testing the water here, because I'm not about to post such a thing in this thread, where it'd soon enough be lost amidst the practice postings of a lengthy thread.
Cheers :)
