This SUCKS!!!!
Several times after logging in, I have written posts only to be told AFTER I have tried to post that I am NOT logged in. Today, I wrote a very long post and before I tried to post it I CHECKED to be sure I was logged in. At the top of the page it said "Logged in as fredgarvin7. So I posted. I was informed I was NOT logged in . (Yet again!) Lost a half hour's writing. WTF is wrong here?
|
You can always select your post and copy it before doing anything else - that way you won't lose anything. Not sure why you are having the login issues though.
|
If you don't click the 'keep me logged in' or 'remember me on this computer' or whatver the check box is called when you log in, you automatically get logged out after X minutes of inactivity. While you compose a post nothing is being communicated to or from the website - you're inactive. Apparently, by the time you click the 'submit' button, you have reached X minutes of inactivity and are getting logged out.
You can either click the check box to keep you logged in or get in the habit of copying everything you were going to post to the clipboard before you post (in case you have to log in again.) |
If you don't click the 'keep me logged in' or 'remember me on this computer'
This doesn't appear sometimes, although it DID this time when I re-logged. The other day I spent 10 minutes searching for the "Keep me Logged" box to no avail. I never DID find it THAT day but the site didn't log me OUT either . |
Sometimes broken web browsers will cause the same problems too. I'm at work so I can;t load any software on the work computer so all I have is the crap called internet explorer and it likes to sign me out of sites at random all the time.

You are probably on probation for that spandex thread.

Double secret probation!!!:banned:

You're not using the AOL browser, are you? I get login problems with that. (Fortunately, I don't have to use it much.) |

When you click on "reply" or "reply with quote" and find yourself logged out, log in again. After the "you are not logged in screen" re-appears hit the refresh button on your browser.
Before posting your comments, press the review post button. If you are logged off, the "you are not logged on" screen will appear again. Log in, wait for the blank screen after the "thank you for logging in" screen, press your browsers back button twice and you will have the text of your post in front of you again. Press the review post button and post your message after you have fixed all the spelling errors so you will seem brighter than you actually are. (At least, that's how it works for me. :D) Frequent "review post" entries will keep you from timing out. Until these processes become familiar, copy your text before pressing "review post". And yes, it is disheartening to lose a post. Tailwinds! |
Having your login session Timeout in the process of writing up a long post is a definite sign that you are being too wordy.
|
I was/am having the same issue (BF please make your code more robust.) I am currently playing around with NOT checking the Remember Me box and finally enjoying auto log in again and so far no annoying messages about not being logged when I hit the post button.
