Yeah, from an aesthetic standpoint, the new forum is an epic fail. Visually this forum is an eyesore. Internet Brands owns vBulletin, so this forum is how they beta test new products. But now it's clear even they are confounded by the problems we continue to experience, it's as if they're reverse engineering flying saucers from Area 51, like someone else wrote it and they have to decipher the code.
But this is how corporations work, they can never admit a mistake, they must trudge ahead and make the best of things and convince us that *we* are the problem...

There's another board I occasionally frequent that just upgraded to vB 4.0, https://www.guitarscanada.com
So far the consensus there 33/33/33 between those who like the new version, those who like the old version and those yet undecided. However, I haven't seen the extremely negative reaction to the new version that I see here.

One feature I see over there that I really like is how each poster's information is across the top of the message area, instead of in a wide column on the left, as it is here. This allows the posting of larger pictures without having to scroll back and forth to read the messages. Here, we have a column on the left with the poster's information, a column on the right with the ads, leaving barely half the screen width for the message area. All it takes is for someone to post post a large picture and you have to scroll back and forth to read the messages.
If it's too much to ask to put the user information across instead of down the left side, could that not be made a user option?
