I often get a response that bike forms is not responding.I changed computers and receive the same signal.Does anyone else have this situation.:crash:

Are you on dial up? Do you have the "keep me logged in" box checked? What operating system and browser?

My only problem with it is, it tends to log me out if I take too long composing a post. Not responding? Nope.

No - slow internet due to Black Friday shopping?

I do notice that of all the websites I visit, including others using 'forum' software, this is the slowest to load.

Sounds... off hand... like a security setting from your side. Maybe a pop-up blocker is keeping the pages from fully loading. Plenty of ad support at most forums... this one is certainly no exception. You could add the Site in your exception list if your browser supports such a function.

Right, security setting and pop-up blocker is high on the list of reasons. Also slow network from your provider. Not enough free memory on your computer - try freeing cookies. Try another browser - Firefox seems to work better than Explorer.

Assuming, dangerous I know, that you can sign in usually with no problem and make no changes before you have the problem you may be on a slow or finicky internet service. My experience is that Bike Forums is the slowest to load and most different web site I visit. It is the only site I get errors associated with loading. Sometimes a notice the internet service timed out waiting for BikeForums. Other times just a Not Responding.

On this web site if you don't want to continually reenter your ID and password you do need to have the remember me box checked.

At least this has been my experience with no difference between browsers, which is as it should be since the same basic software is used by many wib sites.

I hope I'm not stepping on any site admin toes in saying this, but the site uses a pretty well-known and tested forum software package based on php/mysql which is absolutely a robust platform. I haven't seen any problems except for the maintenance which is sometimes necessary with that combination.

There is also a bit of javascript with a widely used library, which can sometimes have complications with respect to browsers. And some ad serving of course. This really points to your browser as the main culprit. Or your firewall. You might try some ad-blocking extensions for just a test (you know, the site doubtless appreciates revenue from the ads). I use Google Chrome with no issues.

No but after years on this site and a Ducati site I am now being required to log in every time I go to either site. I also visit a Hyundai site and it doesn't ask me to log in. Yesterday I connected my new 23" Acer monitor and some sites give me a full screen while others show only down the center of the screen. Computers are strange.

People who program computers are frequently mildly autistic. While very bright, they often lack perspective. Others who program are sometimes incompetent.

I'm wondering if any others besides people here are experiencing this. Would you all be offended if I move this to User Assistance so others can benefit? There seems to be a lot of good talk on here.

I'm confident it is not any one of my computers. Results are the same on any one of three using two different Internet Explorer brosers, and the Chrome browser.
The is well tested software. But, it does have quite a bit of site(Internet Brands in this case) adjustment capability. I go to other web sites using the same basic software and have no difficulty at all.

One comment: Even though this site says all cookies have been removed when the user still has a cookie on their hard drive. Usually cookies are pretty innocuous things used within a site for navigation. But, according to security folks some are used for tracking. Individual choice, but most people I know choose to set up their systems to delete cookies after leaving sites. That means that when a user signs in to this site again the site checks for the cookie and when it doesn't find it does not complete the log in. A simple Refresh immediately after the You Are Logged In message solves that piece of nit noy.

I should add that when I travel with any of the machines to an area that has "better" internet service the problem goes away leaving only the nitnoy.

Moved to User Assistance from 50+

Yes. There is about a 3-5 second delay after clicking on anything in Bike Forums; if I click on anything including other web sites within that 3-5 sec delay, Bike Forums reads "Not Responding" and then takes another 3-5 seconds to respond. Bike Forums is the only web site that acts this way on my computer with Firefox. Bike Forums use to respond normally but this wacky slow behavior has been going on for about six months.

I'll see if Tech finds anything -- thanks for the reports all!

This midly 'artistic' member asks that somebody go through their browser settings and go back to defaults then fiddle with their settings once more or twice. Every so often a Windows Update seems to cause a similar problem with logins, not only with vB but across the board on my XP and IE8.

Another thing that I encourage is to occasionally reboot the DSL gateway or router, that is to DE-POWER and plug it back in, as well as regular clearingog of the temp files. That and of course properly lubricating the computer's freewheel every 2000 miles.
