A Brazing Question
So not a frame building question this time!
Looking to "make" a pedal wrench modification for our touring kit. Going to get new pedals for my wife's bike that use a 8mm hex only. No 15mm flat for my small S&S pedal/coupler wrench. My idea is to cut a small section of an 8mm hex wrench and brass braze it to this pedal wrench.
Thoughts?

That will likely work. I've made a few travel wrenches (and shop use ones too) by cutting and brazing two wrench ends together. Andy

Thanks for your reply Andy. Now back up to the roof. I am rebuilding the top of my chimney. Then I can go ride my bike!

I had to rebuild the cap of our chimney 25 years ago because no mason would return a call. I finally got to where I could see it again recently, and it's in pretty good shape for 25 year old concrete. I was afraid to look
I would leave the hex wrench as long as possible so you get a good bond with the brazing.

Brazing on a hex key will ruin the heat treatment. The area around the brazing will not take very much torque before it yields. Just carry a hex key.

Job is done. As it is for our touring kit I never kill it when tightening the pedals as I have to remove them at the end of the tour for packing. Never had a pedal loose.
But as I work in a bike shop I always snug the pedals down on e every bike in the stand.
