Frame Kit??????

As an uncurable do it your selfer (must be the frostline kits as a kid, the redwood strip canoe with my dad, the surfboard....etc) the idea of building a frame is really interesting. However the design aspect is a little daunting, and I am not sure how much I want to invest in the goofing up/learining (one and same).

Does any one out there offer or would consider to offer a frame kit? i.e tubes cut, matching lugs, etc, that a person like me could use to build my own bike, with only some of the hassle?

I am thinking classic lugged steel, along the lines of a Rivendell Ramboillet...ie road bike, but versatile, good clearance etc.

a few stub of tubing and lug for practice work would make for a great kit.

Of course I can't start on a project until if finsih the basement, put the solar attic vent it, clean the garage and finish my Nishiki utility/commuter bike project

Nova Cycle supply also offers a kit of tubing and lugs that is affordable. (novacycles.com)
Joe Bringheli offers Deda tubes and Walter lugs in a variety of styles. Joe is a super nice guy to deal with, too. (bringheli.com)
Kirk Pacenti also sells tubing and lugs, but in a more fancy type of lug. Again, a super nice guy to deal with. (bikelugs.com)

Good luck!

Don covered the US supply chain pretty well here. Quality Bicycle Products also distributes a limited supply of framebuilding parts so even local bike shops can order the stuff in a pinch.

One other great source of parts is ceeway.com in England. The prices are very fair so even with shipping, it's not too bad.

BTW, Joe Bringheli is the cheapest and Hank Folsom (Henry James) wife, Monica - who answers the phone most of the time, is one of the nicest people you could ever want to meet.
