Steel 1018
Can anyone here refer me to a 1018 steel bicycle?
If not, any other steel (be very specific). TIA |
Any of the steel bikes at Wallmart.
1018 is just plain carbon steel. It would be found on only the cheapest bikes. |
1018 is barely steel at all, with an almost useless .18% carbon content. It may as well be considered normal iron.

Anything over 0.06% will harden a little.... Reynolds 853 and Columbus tubings have about the same carbon content... But yes, it's not really a tubing for a steel frame. Alloyed steels are alloyed for a reason, and they are what you want in frames.... |
