Steel Frane repair in NYC??

I just picked up this IF frame on e-bay which has a small crack located on the seat tube above the BB...

Auction Link: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...EOIBSA:US:1123

Any good recommendations on a place to get this repaired in the NYC area?

Many Thanks... Looking forward to repairing, building and riding this sucker!!

Did you seek out some estimates on what replacing a welded seat tube and a frame repaint might cost before you bid? Got about $400 bucks? Because between the repair ( assuming you can find someone willing to do it) and a full repaint that is about what you are looking at to get it done right.

I'd recommend Carl at Vicious Cycles in New Paltz, but he'd probably shoot me if I did.

No actually he'd price the repair well of of the realms of sensible, so I should be okay.

That's a highly stressed area that's a total cap shoot to repair. I reckon you'd be up for well into the 600 buck mark (yeah, assuming you can find someone to do it) with no guarantee, so it could never break again or break tomorrow.

Not worth it IMHO.
