Hi Cassave,
Beautiful work. How did you make the decals? Or, where did you have them made? Is the white panel one giant decal or was it painted separately? |
I found the answer to my first question inside the thread several pages back: Pappilio waterslide paper.
And I'm deducing that the panels must be painted separately because computer printers don't print white. |

Great thread. Once I get all my tools together I'll be checking this thread all of the time.
|
I'll take one either in brushed steel or polished with just a clear coat please.
Gorgeous bike. Incredible build. |
I literally have tears, tops any bike I've ever seen!

Cassave - How do you clean up your joints after brazing and washing off the flux? Any special tools or techniques?

If the joint is brazed correctly there's no much to do after washing off the flux. Just a few passes with the file where the silver was fed into the lug. |
Here is the bike on a local century (TDF) last Saturday.

I just finished reading this whole entry. As a tool maker for most of my life, from one craftsman to another BRAVO, beautiful and true to style. Beauty and simplicity.

Thank you.
Much appreciated. |
Thanks for posting this beautiful thread.
Very inspiring. |
<sigh>
thank you for documenting the build and finished ride!! |
I was just talking about this on my ride today with a guy that builds frames.
|
Moving to framebuilding and being made a sticky there.

incredible talent

Thank you so much for documenting your build. I have been waiting to build my first frame for ages, and you have given me the last little push over the edge. I am going to order my tubeset tonight.
Thanks again. |

Thanks again. Have fun and enjoy the process. |
Hey, I just found this tread sort of at random, and I have to say, that is the most beautiful bike I have ever seen. I just set it as my desktop background. Even my wife, who can't really tell the difference between one bike and another thought it was very "pretty". Way to go man. I think the lugged steel frame with sort of an old school look, mixed with the new components really has a sharp look to it. In my opinion, you couldn't have gone with a better color. That blue is almost the same as what I wanted to repaint my bike with. I know you have gotten it a lot, but I just wanted to say well done! Enjoy it.

A master craftsman, an artisan — a true piece of art in the form of the most elegant machine
ever invented. Thanks for letting us witness your work. |
This is a great thread....concise yet thorough, with ideal use of visual aids. I'm planning a frame build sometime in the next year or so, and seeing your jig was really helpful. Many thanks!

You Make It Look so easy. Outstanding, no words can describe this work of machine and art. Having said that, a couple of questions? Your main fixture/jig, I assume you built this. Very impressive. Any chance of a descripition of how you built it, etc. Also did you full braze in it or just tack? It seems the fixture is free floating enough to braze in it (with proper align checks). Thanks for any info you provide, as I think My fixture/jig in progress will end up very similar to yours. (imitation is the purist form of flattery) Thanks Ted

(imitation is the purist form of flattery) Thanks Ted I spent alot of time making sure it's coplanar on all the tube locatinf bits (used a large surface plate and height gage etc.) All brazing is done in the fixturing. The main fixture rotates on a horizontal axis so I can locate the joint for a gravity assist. Glad you enjoyed the thread. |
