1986 Trek to accept 10 speed

I wasn't sure how to search for this, so I'll just ask...

I have a 1986 Trek made of 531 tubing. I would love to put some more modern wheels and components on it, as i still love the ride. I have heard one can stretch the rear to accomodate a 10 speed cassette (it currently has a 6 speed freewheel). I was hoping to hear some thoughts, experiences, etc.

Thanks!

This has been covered many times. Try a seach on "cold setting" or have a look on Sheldon Brown's site for a how to page.
