What steel?

On a vacation to Rome I picked up a NOS Olmo steel frameset. There are no decals identifying the tubeset, so here is my question. What do You think? It measures 55.5cm c-t. The dropouts say colombus. The dropouts are vertical. The frame is lugged. Seatpost 27.2. Hidden brakecable in toptube. Brazed on cableguides under bb. Italian bb. Frame weight is 1813 grams. Fork weight is 670 grams. I dont know the age of the frame, but probably early nineties. Any ideas?

With that frame weight the tubeset would have to be medium thick. Are the tubes OS? A OS Zona or Dedacciai ZeroUno/COM12.5 frame will come in at roughly that same weight. Sounds like a nice ride.

I'm on my way there next week. Are there ton of bike shop that have NOS? Is there a Craigs List Italia? I'm going to try to get a frame, not sure how many 60cm there are floating around Italy. I'm dreaming of finding a Colnago, Pinarello float

I knew a shop owner some years back who was trying to buy bare Olmo frames to sell under his own brand.... IIRC Olmo used Columbus SLX on many of their frames along with Dedacciai.

SLX was drawn over a ribbed mandrel. If you pull out the bottom bracket and with the aid of a dental mirror and flash light you should be able to see the rifling on the inside of the down tube if the frame was made from SLX.
