Bicycle Repair Man !!!
This was an interesting challenge...
A hub and spoke tourer I built for an older customer that wanted a very low step through, she is also very petite and was insistent on 700 wheels which have now been fitted out with 35mm tyres instead of the 28's shown here.
It makes for a plush and very stable riding bicycle that also does not feel like you are driving a bus...
Frame was filet brazed with Columbus Nivachrome, the fork is a Surly LHT (I like these forks) which had brake bosses added and still has a provision for a disc if she decides to upgrade in the future. My powder guy did a really nice job with the Lavender colour too.
She had been riding a very small frame with an added stem riser to get her bars as high as she likes, I translated all those measurements and took a note from my Moulton and built the bike with an extended head tube so normal stems and normal spacers could be used.
Next up is a custom for another small rider that will incorporate Hellenic stays and have some retro / classic design aspects.
Normally sized folks generally don't need custom bikes.

My first attempt at a self-built frame....
Inspired by the Lotus 110 and Pinnarello Espada... I managed to beat my all time PB's for 10 miles, 25 miles and distance covered in 1 hour on the first ride, so can't be too wrong....
The frame is a mixture of carbon fibre and aluminium. The next step is to make some custom integrated bars/stem.....
A few more photos on my facebook page here....

Hey everyone,
I've finally got a few pictures together of the frame I built over the last year. Nova smoothie double-OS lugs with Nova tubes. Domed the seatstays and chainstays where they meet the dropouts. Off the shelf Surly fork. I did a quick paint job in the garage to get the bike on the road and my plan is to do a fancy multi-colour high gloss paint job over the winter. The ride is pretty nice! I'm happy with how it turned out and the geometry turned out well.
At the top of Marmot Basin in Jasper, Ab just after watching the finish of the 4th stage of the Tour of Alberta

Well this is my first tig welded steel cro-mo frame. Made it while attending UBI's frame building class
Here are some pics of the process
First off, I went in to this without any real knowledge about bicycles. I didn't even know what was a "hub"or "bottom bracket". Luckily the other people at my class, including all of the staff at UBI were super helpful. The feeling of riding something you've built.. cant be beat

Hello, all.
Here's the most recent hand-built carbon fiber version of Flying Rider. Doesn't fit this rider exactly; thigh interference. Should have a new frame done in a few days to fix this issue.
Cheers,
Dave

Here's my first frame build. I built it in my garage with my home built welding table as a jig.

This is my first complete build and was constructed from an old exercise machine I found on the side of the road. It's a little rough around the edges, but that keeps it lively.

Candy Red
The top tube looks super skinny...or is that just optical illusion?

My first bike frame build. A LWB Recumbent 26/20" wheels F/R. Frame is not yet finished, but getting close. Still some filing to do, and need to add cable stays; cap the rear of the tubes...

that's really neat. Thanks for showing us your pictures. Do you have anything to add to the CAD thread? https://www.bikeforums.net/framebuild...x-edition.html

While the descendant of CadKey is still available (Key Creator). It's not really the same anymore.
On the other hand, I also have Q-CAD. Which is free. It's pretty easy to use also (though I'm not as fluent). It has a very nice feature which allows you to import a .jpg, scale it, and then draw over it. It's nice feature when you're trying to measure geometry from an existing bike.

I recently finished converting my old hardtail from 26” to 29”. I didn't touch the front triangle, which is tig welded Reynolds 853. The seat stays are 4130 cromoly, the chain stays are and old cromoly fork, and the dropouts are from paragon machine works.
I used a 115 volt flux core welder, so it's not winning any beauty contests, but it fits and handles great.
It's 25.2 lbs as it sits
These dropouts are my favorite part.

It's going to break at the seat tube/chainstay junction.
