Adding rack eyelets to a finished frame
 

Hi. I have a steel frame bicycle, and I'd like to add eyelets to the seat stay and drop-outs to make the bike more suitable for commuting, day-tripping.

Can this be done?

ps - if yes, and you know of good shops in the Boston area, I'd like to know about them.

if it has a paint job in good condition, you may want to consider p-clamps or a seat post rack. Lots of people happily use solutions like that.

Otherwise, there is no problem adding them to a steel frame. There are tons of builders in the Boston area, but I'm not sure of any that do repairs.

The frame is in good condition. I use a seat post rack now, but it's not the best solution.

Tubus racks use a monostay fastened to the rear brake bridge with the brake mounting bolt, and you could use p-clips at the dropouts.
