Soulcraft framebuilder video

An interesting shop. There's lots of custom tools and jigs.

Cool video, too:

Thanks. Not fo ruse with small torches.

Do you know of a pilot light only? I don't mind using the knobs. There was a picture in that Taylor brothers film (has it been two weeks since my last posting), where they light off a pilot light.

I think that was the most enjoyable film of it's type I have yet to see. Thanks to all involved.

I found one just by luck. I have not seen them available. Prest-o-lite used to make some interesting things. I don't even know if they are still around. I think that is who made mine. It's a mini-torch with no handle and uses air for an accelerator.

I have a gas saver, but I haven't really felt like using it yet. I am a little concerned that my torch will not always trigger it off. It would work as a pilot light though. At Trek, they had torches with built in pilot lights, but they got rid of them after someone had the pilot light go out at lunch. The explosion after lunch shook the building.

We used pilot lights at Trek, with a hanger for the torch that shut off the gas flow to the torch when you hung the torch on it.

BTW, looks like Soulcraft has commandeered Dave Tesch's "Built for Speed" motto. I wonder if there's any connection?

I figured if one wanted to use a small torch with that, I would have to have and extra weight on a hook to hang at the same time. What about just having a candle. I suppose for the amount I use this stuff just striking it would make most sense.

Yeah great film.

I worked for/with Tesch for a while in Phoenix. We talked a lot, rode and built bikes together for a few months. I am however, a TIG welder not unlike Soulcraft. Even though Tesch and I were friends, there was really no-way I could be a frame builder under his definition, bad blood (laughing but really not joking). I don't know for a fact but I am pretty sure Dave's vision of a frame builder continuing on his path would not include TIG welding, trucker hats or MTB's (at Framesmith and perhaps other places he did build TIG welded MTB's but was certainly not his passion).

'Can't say for sure though.

I worked with Tesch for a couple years while he was at Trek. He did have strong opinions and wasn't shy about stating them.

I went to Trek for a tour in '07 or so. Pretty impressive place. I went there to sell something but they sat me down and tried to sell me something.
