Does my frame need repiar?
 

Soon I will have my frame painted. Now it is stripped of all parts and paint.
I noticed that there is an area near the bottom bracket where the chainstay joins the bb lug that does not seem to me to have sufficient brass in the join.
Is it OK or should I get it repaired before painting?

it's a little hard to tell from your picture if there is filler there. It looks like there is, and that it just didn't flow out the same at that point. Look on the inside of the bb shell and see if there is filler inside all the way around. If not, you probably should get it repaired

If you have a brazing set up available, it would be trivial to fill that void area before you get it painted.

Thanks unterhausen, I'll take a look at the inside of the BB shell to see if the brazing goes all the way around.

Cheers JohnDThompson. Even if the filling is present when viewed from the inside of the BB shell as suggested by unterhausen, I think I'd prefer to have the gap filled.

Now the question is, does anyone know of a frame builder or brazer in Kyushu, Japan? If not, then are there any recommendations for places/people Japan wide?

Here I always thought you couldn't swing a dead cat around your head in Japan without hitting a keirin builder or two... :innocent:

Well, I thought I had found a track once upon a time. Large, new building advertising 'Keirin'. On closer inspection it didn't quite seem large enough to house a track. On even closer inspection it housed a few men watching and placing bets on keirin races from some far off big city on several large TV screens.
Same question: Does anyone know of any frame builders in Kyushu or could suggest a profession to look out for that may bring me into contact with an artisan with the necessary skills?
