Canti Boss Problem With 700C Conversion

I asked this question in another forum but did not get a concrete answer.

I was going to convert my 27" wheels to 700C but the canti brakes will not adjust 4mm lower to contact the rim fully. The boss spacing ctc is 60mm the brakes are Dia-Compe 960 with a 23mm reach. I have not tried the rear, but it looks like it will work as the spacing is much wider.

Is it possible to have the bosses relocated on the fork or would this weaken the steel? It is 4130 CroMo......

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's possible to do with no ill effects. As a bonus you can have the studs spaced apart a bit more to work better with modern cantis.
