Replace a threaded steer tube on a fork
 

The steer tube on my bike fork has been cut too short and I may need to have it lengthened or replaced...

It's a threaded tube on an old Cambio Rino bike frame from the 80's with Columbus SL tubing (I don't care what metal is used to replace the steer tube)

Who in the Toronto, Ontario might be able to do this for me?? Anywhere else in Canada?? Anybody know any shops that I might ask??

I would think it would be easier to just get a new fork.

Thanks! I emailed both. Velocolour actually quotes $100 to replace the steer tube on their website!! Things are looking up after all!! Woo hoo!

takes a lot of heat to bring a fork crown up to the brass melting point,
Finished job ready for repaint, $100CDN seems cheap.

Why even bother to heat it to remove it?

Cut the steerer at the top of the crown, then line bore the steerer hole in the crown to 25.4mm to remove the remnants and braze in a new one.
