Kickstand Plate?
 

Anybody know where to order? Or do most folks just make one? Ceeway used to have but I am not sure where to get one now.

Any input appreciated!

The pins (actually nails) are slightly closer together then the top of the k stand. When mounting the k stand i filed small reliefs as needed to get the leg parallel to the chain stay. Andy.

If you could place a kickstand anywhere on the bike where would it be? I am thinking here only of supporting the bike, not of what brands or types of stand are available, or how they get in the way of pedals, bags whatever, just how they support the bike. I am assuming front and back touring bags, but I am interested in what people say for their particular bike types. I am assuming a single foot stand.

Friends of mine have ordered from them and have had good service. I would add them to the list for sure. They are Reynolds suppliers as well.
I don't know what their english is like though :)

How many do you want? I have a couple of the kind shown above on the right side of the two photos, and I'm pretty sure I can easily buy more of them in very small numbers.

Do you need to have a plate for a kickstand? I was intending on putting on a ******** kickstand on my touring bike. But I dont have a plate-maybe I should braze one on before I paint the bike?

it's not a bad idea to have a plate. Otherwise you run the risk of crushing the stays. Seen many nice bikes and some not so nice bikes with crushed stays

It's also a spiffy item to mount the front of the fender to, and is a lot easier and quicker to install than a bridge. They also sell half-rounds to help protect your stays if you don't have a plate, but the plate is better.

Sounds like it is a half tube that can cover the stays?

about 180 degrees! Sorry, I had to. A half round is generally made of plastic these days and covers the top half of the chainstay. So when you look at a tube cross section > O < a half round would be like a letter > C < tipped 90 degrees to the right, and on top of the tube like a hat. One of those on each chainstay is supposed to protect your chainstay from being crushed.
Kickstands that I used to buy decades ago used to have a plate with the half rounds already in it. But with bikes having different spacings now, I get why they just supply a flat plate. ******** includes half rounds with their double kickstands. Wish I woulda had the forethought to have added a plate when I had my couplers added. duh!

Brian- Thanks. the real reason that stays get dented with k stand mounting is because the darn thing has to be super tight to resist the twisting forces when the k stand is deployed and retracted. With my studs this force is contained so the clamping pressure is minimal. Andy.
