Threaded steerer length

I'm trying to source for a threaded fork for a frame with a 160mm headtube. Will a fork with a 185mm steerer fit?

Too short. Of course it depends on the headset, but my default stack height for a threaded hs is 40mm...most are within a few mm of that.

+1

I measured the threaded steerer from the top to the crown race seat on my 1987 Paramount, and it was 235 mm. The head tube length is 195 mm. So, the steerer is 40 mm longer than the head tube.

OK, thanks.
