'Off the shelf ' head tubing sizes?
I want to build several cargo bikes and need off the shelf tubing (not milled) for head tubes.
Does 36mm OD x 34mmID work for 1.1/8th inch steering tube headsets?
And 32mm OD x 30 ID for one inch steer tubes?
1.3/8th" OD x 1.185" ID x .095" wall from wicks air craft is a bit thick but the right fit.

Nova Nov_COHT_37_700 1.60mm wall, 37.00mm OD / 33.80mm ID, (straight gauge, bore ends to 33.95mm ID for headset *)
Nova Nov_COFS_460_AHD 2.00mm/1.55mm wall
* Believe this came from a FSA headset guide... you should confirm with the choice of headset you are going to actually use. Recommend use w/ lugs or with a reinforcing ring/band at top and bottom

Are you looking for tubing with a native ID compatible with headsets? (I.e. no reaming?) The 1.185 ID = 30.1 mm is probably good. 1.25x0.035 is 1.180 ID = 30.0 mm could work too but is pretty light duty. Keep in mind HTs have a smaller ID to allow for a bit of welding distortion to be reamed out. But you likely won't get any on a 0.95 walled tube.

The longest head tube will be 30" and maybe I should stick with the thicker stuff from wicks aircraft. metric is hard to find except when made just for bicycles.

I think the last U.S. 4130 mill closed down. Steerers are english, a 1 1/8 4130 tube should work fine. You might want to add a crown race, Paragon sells a near-net-dimension one.
