Enamel over Clearcoat?

I'm about to get my steel classic frame back from the powder-coaters'.
I'm thinking about painting the lugs white with Testors model paint, and
was just wondering if there is anything inherently wrong with painting
brushed enamel onto clear-coated powdercoat.
If I would have to strip the lugs first, then I'll just leave them be.

I don't think there would be a problem as long as you use 120 or 200 wet-or-dry sandpaper on the clear powdercoated lugs (and then clean and dry) before brushing on the enamel. The sanded powdercoat surface will give the enamel some "tooth" for the enamel to adhere to.

Powder used in coatings is Usually a polyester , so paints for plastics should be OK..

Paul - be sure to get a bottle / can of paint that is UV resistant, etc., something that will hold up to weather and the sun. Model paint isn't. Model paint also doesn't dry with a really hard surface so it will tend to be easily scratched off or chipped.

Thanks, Stan, Bob and Ks. These things are important for me to know. I think I may wait until I can have someone who is experienced and proficient in detail painting take a look at it. The lugs are not Nervex Pro, just Legere, but I still want them done corrrectly.
