Wind. gotta hate it?

I live in southern IL. got my bikes out of hibernation 3 weeks ago. I usually ride 4 nights a week, 1-2 hours each night.
so for 3 weeks, that's a total of 12 rides I've done so far this year.
I Have yet to have a ride where the wind didn't feel like I was in a tornado. I know , riding in the wind will increase my stamina, muscles, etc. but I am starting to hate even the thought of going out to get on the bike. as I said I'm just starting to ride again this year, as I wasn't able to do the winter training thing indoors this year as I normally do , so I'm getting my butt kicked by the wind every day I ride . When will these stupid winds die down?
anybody else having these same problems?

Oh God do I know how you feel. I don't think I have ridden one day where there was no wind. I too hate the thought of going out in the wind. But we do and yes I think it makes us stronger and better riders. Its spring time here in the rockies and it seems like we get some wind most of the day. But I'm out there riding and just plain ol happy for that.

We don't have hills, so it helps to get something to push against on these flats in Chicago! I do get tired from riding in the winds all the time, but if I keep up with it, after a few months, I don't even notice it anymore.

I second all of that!

If I can get out in the morning or roll myself out of bed early enough to commute to work it doesn't seem too bad, but every afternoon ride has been gusty as all heck!

Still, a windy ride is far better than no ride...

I can relate too! For me, a ride in winds that are gusting under 30MPH is a treat! The wind has been bad since last fall. If its not howling, then its cold and rainy/snowy. Sometimes I feel like I just can't win.
