brooks cambium use without padded shorts

hi all

i have a c17 on my cube sl comp bike , its a hybrid sort of bike. lately i m having some issues with this saddle. i find it more comfy without padded shorts. its like i feel a lot of material underneath me...i use endura mesh padded shorts which do not have a lot of padding. i use it for work 9 kms both ways so its not a long distance. i was just wondering , if you have this saddle, do you use padded shorts with it?. my concern is that i do not want to get chaffed, i use my bike to go everywere. when i didn t used padded shorts on this saddle i used base layers from On One bikes. any input is greatly appreciated. o i also use assos chamios cream.

You shouldn't need to use padded shorts to ride a bike. I almost never use cream, either.

HA! As a kid, I never rode with padded shorts. However, as an adult, I cannot ride comfortably without them. A couple months ago, I got lazy. After pumping iron, I wanted to ride. Being all covered in sweat, I was too lazy to go upstairs and change, so I hopped on the bike-I lasted 30 minutes before I couldn't take the pain and uncomfortableness any longer. My bike with thousands of kilometres in the same saddle, in my trainer, in my basement. Nope, never again. On the other hand, I was considering a C17, but the price! I'll stick to the B17's I already own.

My bike shorts are Not padded but they are lined with a thin absorbant material which is seamless .

But for 6 mile round trips to the store I just wear regular clothes .

Never had padded shorts. I prefer gel saddles (Selle Italia XO is my favourite), so if the C17 is a bit softer than, uh, hard saddles it might be perfect without the extra padding

I have the Cambium as well, and I prefer to ride it without a chamois. You're not weird at all, you've just found a saddle that's superbly comfortable for your anatomy and style!
