Any good headbands?
Its getting hot down here in Texas and sweat keeps getting into my eyes while riding. What do people ride with?
|
I've never been particularly bothered by sweat in the eyes when it's hot.
I only wear a headband on really cold mornings. I wrap one around my ears to stop them snapping off.:D A few freinds of mine do wear cheap head / sweat bands across their foreheads in the hot months and it seems to do the trick for them. |
Hi kris1010 and welcome to the forums.
Yeah, it's really hot and humid here too. I have used sweatbands, but for the last ten of fifteen years I've been using bandannas folded into sweatband shape with a little slip bead in back instead of a knot. (A holdover from my old hippie days ?) Cheap and efficient. Works for me. |
Try the ones made by Pace. Or try the Pace cycling caps, there is a sweatband built into the cap.

I have a similar problem... sweatbands screw up helmet fit and interfere with my glasses. The cool-max skull caps, do wraps, or whatever you call 'em work well. (They also keep me from getting a barbecue grill tan on my balding scalp.)

Krtis1010,
Welcome to the Forums. I use the ones sold by Richardson Bike mart. they're thin so they don't mess up helmet fit. about $5.00 a pop (may have been sale priced?). They stand up quite well to the Dallas heat and humidity. They don't really absorb the sweat, but seem to keep it from running into my eyes. Where do you ride? Marty |
kris, Welcome to the forums. Your more then welcome to participate on the forums, however please dont just use them to promote your own product. As you may have noticed your last post was deleted for just that reason.
Anyhow, to answer your question, I wear a pace cap under my helmet, and have never had a problem with sweat. |
I used sweatband (Giro brand) that worked well enough until very humid wx. Finally I bought a "wrap" made of coolmax I think, but the label did not indicate. It was great because it is of thin fabric and actually made the helmet easier to get on. That worked like a champ until I increased my daily ride from 10 to 20 mi, whereupon I encountered that "blinding effect" of sweat at approx. 15 mi at virtually the same spot on 2 successive days. I bought a "polar coolmax" gen-u-wine "Do-Wrap," which has thus far done the trick. This thing has a lot more fabric, which means it can absorb more, but I think it may be wicking better. I carry the other wrap in case the humidity levels prove to be too much for the wicking properties.
