Seriously? Take it from someone who is so broke she can't even buy food half the time... go to work. . .

In the land of milk and honey... to eek by... is the sin of sloth. Go to work and make great efforts to prosper. Then... also enjoy cycling.

find a job, in bike industry

Bike to work.

Phil_gretz 05-28-15 05:01 AM

^ +1. Ride your bike to work. I don't know your personal situation, but someday others will depend on you. These are the choices that will form behaviors that will become your character. Work is good. Sloth isn't.

you said "we" can eek by, if that was not a "royal we", then get to work. Respect yourself or no one else will.

Is this a trick question? Am I missing something? Playing hooky always beats going to work. ;)

I love strapping on the skates and playing hockey. Everyone should be playing hockey instead of work :D

Who ever came up with the 5 day 40 hour work week anyways. Why didn't they come up with work the weekend and off the rest of the week?

They did. It's called working Retail or Bar-tending.

don't know much about a 40 hour work week...I rarely worked so few hours in one week. I believe in doing what it takes to take care of your family...obligations/responsibilities first, then pleasure. In my old age I have slowed down a bit, most weeks now I am down to 50+ hours a week. People who play hookey from their responsibilities are unreliable and make poor friends.

work or play hooky?

Before labor laws, the common masses worked 60-80 hours weeks, or longer, with Sunday being the only day off. Small children worked long hours in dangerous jobs. There was little free time to engage in a hobby. So our 40 hour week was a great improvement. My thanks to labor unions for that.

If you have provided for your family, then an occasional hooky day is ok. But if not, then it is irresponsible. But if you decide to play hooky anyway, then I want to say thank you from the more mature, responsible members of the work force because it gives me the chance to earn some overtime.

You're thinking too logically. Tomorrow isn't a guarantee.

AMC, my Dad's Nash Ambassador & Rambler were made in a Kenosha, Wisconsin factory, both the '53 and the '63.

If you play hooky, don't call in first to tell them that you're in bed sick. It will then be guaranteed that you will have a crash resulting in visible road rash or other injuries that would not be likely on someone who was in bed all day.
