I've been riding bicycles on roads and trails since 1965, and, due to the slow, close to the roadside nature of the ride, I've spotted and picked up an astounding variety of booty... Some of my better finds have been:

Three cellular phones and two pagers, (all turned in for various cash rewards) two handguns, (one of which I sold for $400) a working laptop PC (Thinkpad... see, people do throw them away), a box of electrical outlets, a boxed-new entry lockset, numerous hand tools, a cordless drill, various garden tools, a variety of toys, (toy cars, Barbie dolls, plush toys) sunglasses, a beautiful deer skull with an eight-point rack, two goat skulls, and more pornographic magazines than I can count...

Financially, I've scooped up a few jackpots... 1200 FF ($200 US at the time) in one find, and over $130 in here & there banknote pick-ups. (How on earth does a $20 bill fly out of a car window?)

So, what treasures has anybody else found while pedaling down the road?

Amazing!

I really need to get into riding my road bike more, or find a job within 15 miles of my house so i can start commuting!

I do however have a question for ya, did you notify the police about the two guns you found?

I havent found anything close to what you have found, but my list includes one cell phone that didnt work, i couldnt find the owner, so i sold it to a pawn shop for $15. I have found quite a few tools laying on the road, one of the tools i found when i ran over it with my front wheel, and the wrench poped up and about broke my little toe. As for cash, i think i have stoped to pick up maybe $20 - $30 worth total, i dont care to stop for change ;) The coolest thing i have found was a CD wallet, it was chuck full of CD's, I think there were close to 30 CD's in it, sadly, none of the CD's were artisits i cared to listen, mostly rap, country, and really hard rock music, i did keep a few cd's that i liked, and gave the rest away to famil and friends.

Guns & Money

One of the handguns I found was an el-cheapo five shot .38 revolver, which I did give to a County Deputy who, at the time, was a neighbor. The other one was a very nice Smith & Wesson model 686 .357 in nickel. The stocks were broken from being tossed out, and there were a few scuffs on the rest of the gun. I took it to a gun dealer for repair and a value estimate, and he... errr, offered me money for it.

THAT can't possibly make me a bad person. I've done MUCH worse!

On the other hand, I did return the two wallets I've found to their owners... and declined to accept any sort of reward.

Yeah..me too

Bloody Nora,

I think I'll move to America...there's no booty to be had on our roads...we'll, unless you happen to find your self cycling through a shopping mall...

:) Rich :)

Merely hitch a ride on the Eurostar, and cycle 'round Ile de France... I found most of the "good stuff" on Parisian streets. Tossing perfectly good things out of car windows seems to be a French national sport.

Do watch out for the Crottemobile!
