Get a fat bike. Those tires should be able to take on a good sized dog.

Oh, this might be the wrong thread, but me and the kids converted their old "kids bike trailer" so our three pugs pulled them like a chariot. The kids never had so much fun.
A bit of a different discussion, but a good reminder that dogs are someone's pet and there is a reason they are "man's best friend", or better, "a kid's best friend".

Post some photos of your dog chariot in a new topic.

It wasn't in the city. No leash laws. Which I understand. If you live in the country you shouldn't have to tie your dog, but you also can't let it run on the road. Nobody in the neighborhood has seen the dog since. I'm sure it was worm food 30 minutes after I went to the hospital.

People here tend to underestimate and oversimplify the dog problem. Dogs do not all react in the same way. It depends on their breed, how they were brought up, what kind of "duty" they are performing, etc. Of course, there are dogs that will just merrily bark and escort you without posing any sort of threat. But there are also those that have been trained to get you.

People oversimplify the dog problem as well. Not all dogs react the same way but they react in similar ways. While pit bulls get a lot of bad press in the US, breeds like Jack Russell, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, Spaniels and Collies show up in bite statistics quite often. These aren't breeds that are known to be highly aggressive. But they are still dogs and they react to humans in much the same way, i.e. they are subservient to some human somewhere (as long as they aren't completely feral). I use that fact against them in every encounter I've ever had with a dog.

Even feral dogs and pack dogs should still be treated in the same manner. You aren't likely to be able to outrun a dog on a bicycle over a short distance. And, as Flange Head discovered, they can move unexpectedly and quite fast. It's best to stand your ground when faced with a charging dog. Yes, they are predators but even predators don't go for meals that fight back. Too much effort.
