Don't be THAT Guy!

It's not uncommon, but yesterday I saw a guy on a bike, riding on the sidewalk, going against traffic and riding his bike on the crosswalks. (Edit - He was riding however and wherever he found it convenient to ride.) He may have been smoking too. He was a lolly-gagger confusing people in cars and annoying people on foot. I happened to be driving home in my car at the time and I almost hit the idiot.

Anyone else see a problem with this or am I just anal about how bicyclists should ride?

But I love posting in color and in bold and in different fonts. It's fun. Can't resist, at least on the opening post. :-)

THAT'S IT! I call HYPERTROLLISM on your threads. Your last four or five are simply cheap trivial controversies related to bike riding. It has to stop. Grow up. Get a job. Do something else.

This may be entertaining for your ego, so there's that.

OK, thanks. I was wondering who was the one (or ones) who decide what post is a good post and when too many posts by one person are too many. So you're the bosses around here, huh?

(In case you didn't get my sarcasm, I don't care what you guys think. Shhhhhhhhhhhh.)

Does this mean we're not friends? Because I don't think I can stand to continue if we're not friends.

It's not posts. It's not the number of posts. It's that you start threads with questions that are, well, very very trollish. Simply stop making observations about trivial things and asking the internet to discuss. That's my beef. I will flag the next one for the moderators. They'll take it up with you.

Sarcasm is fine, but don't direct it at people. That's not nice.

I'm old and wise enough to be your father. I don't care whether we're friends.

Phil_gretz, are you kidding me? Your "wisdom" is arguable just based on the words you've posted on this thread. If you don't like the threads I start, the solution is easy: ignore them! Flag all you want. Have a "flag-fest." If the moderators want me to leave, or not post on bike-related stuff that I deem worthy to post about, I have no problem with that.

And yes, I directed sarcasm at you. Live with it. You directed insults at me by inferring that I'm a "troll." Now go away and play somewhere else, wise one.

Which way is the "wrong way" when you're on a sidewalk?

Or I should ask, what constitutes "against traffic" when you're on a sidewalk?

Some people that ride bikes aren't concerned about others or what is right or what is wrong...some people were never taught the difference, or told that sidewalks are for walking. Rather than complaining about it on a bike message board where 99% of the people posting here understand proper cycling techniques, why don't you tell the guy (politely) that he should try riding with traffic in the bike lane as it's dangerous for him and others to be doing what he is currently doing.

Yes, you obviously do. You have been banned before. You came back, waving around the fact that you were "previously" someone else who had been banned. I've commented on this before in another thread.

Your threads are constant "attention seekers" and your posts are often offensive simply to watch people respond. Pretty sure that's one of the many definitions of an online "troll."

I ride on the sidewalk everyday when I walk my dog. I've been doing it for many years and nobody has bothered me. There is no right or wrong way on a sidewalk; pedestrians are not expected to cross the street to walk in the same direction as street traffic.

Don't you ride a hybrid or something similar? Isn't a hybrid a half step away from a Rascal?

I guess that kind of stuff doesn't occur to me. And you're welcome!

You're very helpful, Phil. Maybe I'm not the only one observing these things after all. :-) You're a true e-friend.

When a wise man insults me and tells that my posts are "simply cheap" and "trivial", that gets difficult to do. And then he has the gall to tell me it's not nice to direct sarcasm at him. OH, what a friendly community this is, indeed.

YouthInAsia, I did not direct my comment to any one person. I directed it at all who are posting in this thread.

But, if the shoe fits...

That is a SWEET Rascal!!!! I like that red. It looks fast! If I was her I would switch out that basket with a number plate though. :-)

Yes, I ride a hybrid. And you got a good point about sidewalks.

I am proud to say that I ride my bike like that every day...One of the things I enjoy most about bicycles is that they can be ridden anywhere.

Funny- but the ones always accusing others of being "trolls" are the ones who disrupt/derail the threads; thus becoming the real defacto trolls.....
