Garmin Rearview radar

Ran across this today, and thought it might be helpful for some of you. Have no ideal how well it works, and riding in more rural areas 150 Yards (140 meters) is just not enough. But in more dense area, perhaps.

Like I said. SOME.... And some don't like the mirrors, or just like more tech.

guess if you got the big bucks writing code for the computer corporations & are raking it in..

Maybe the guy in the Volvo behind you has that kind of radar too .

I think the most interesting part of this device is the way that it activates a rear light when it senses the approaching vehicle.
At the stated 150 yards on a 45 mph road you're getting a little under 7 seconds notice that the vehicle is approaching and they are getting a blinky light for the same period.

A mirror is better in many ways, IMO, like being able to see the lateral position of approaching traffic and what the vehicle is, whether it has a wide trailer, etc... And my blinkie is on at all times, and bright enough to be obvious at 1/2 mile in broad daylight. Now, if the radar indication is prominent enough to alert me of approaching traffic without having to look down to check the indicator it could be useful adjunct to a mirror.
