Good touring/road shorts with pockets?

Ill keep this super short, since I wanted to run out the door to the gym atleast 15mins ago;

I'm looking for nice quality biker shorts with padding that have atleast one pocket for a phone/iPod and potentially a 2nd pocket... but I can just throw ID, cash and a card in the first pocket.
Needs to be zip pocket. These shorts seem appropriate to me;
Men's Vertigo Cycle Short - Wild Print w Top Shelf Chamois Pad
Only thing is no damn pockets...
I can always figure out the best way to possibly add a pocket myself.
Last thing i'll say is im comfortable with spending ~70 US dollars / or 100 $ Canadian (I use Canadian.. only thing is our dollar has dropped stupidly in the past year)
If you are Canadian /know of a good Canadian provider that'd be siick. I'll check out Mountain Equipment Co-Op next time I go to my home City on the 18th of August.

Thanks for reading, goal of this was to ask around and see if anyone already uses a pair like what I am describing/ hoping to find.

I got these Bontrager Baggy Shorts - on sale at my LBS recently and like them. Baggy with zip pocket on right leg. Fits my mobile phone nicely.

Check out the sales at outdoor stores. REI outlet had some Fox shorts the other day for $22 and they have zip up pockets. I have a couple pairs. I also have some Novara ones from there that I got for $20. Pricepoint typically has some for less than retail as well as Nashbar. They all have great return policies so if they don't fit, you can return them easily. If you go with Fox, I'd say they run true to size. I wear a 30 and they fit perfectly. I tried a 32 to see how much extra room I'd get and I am swimming in them.

Just food for thought :-).

If you are an XL, I would suggest getting the XXL. The do run a size smaller.

Why not the Endura ones? Started wearing their Humvee shorts long time ago and still doing. Their shorts come with a baggy that doesn't screams cyclist and you can use them without the baggy too.

Two examples. The plain and the lite one.

I like my Zoic Ether shorts as well. REI has a couple of sales every year - got my Zoic during their Memorial Day sale.

Have you considered traditional cycling jerseys? Toss ID, $, etc. in a rear pocket, and it doesn't bump something every time the pedal goes around.

I've done that and it is just not the same. Hotter for one thing! I don't notice the heat buildup so much while riding but when you stop - oh boy!

Or look into MTB shorts. But I don't think most shorts made for biking are going to have zippers on pockets.

I agree ref the Jackson & Gibbons touring shorts. Very comfortable, once you get used to the "commando" feel.
