Riding after a sprained wrist?
Anyone have experience while riding after a sprained wrist? My wrist got tweeked on July 4th and it’s been up and down since, but won’t go away. The last ride was Saturday and toward the end of the ride I couldn’t even squeeze the breaks so I decided to get a wrist brace. I’ve been wearing the brace Since Sunday, but not sure if it would make it worse riding again or not and if I do ride should I ride with the brace on?

Btdt. Anything you repeatedly do to stress a sprained joint is going to make it's recovery take longer. Me, I'd ride with a brace or with the wrist wrapped, as long as I could reasonably well operate the controls, and cut down on the mileage for awhile as well if necessary.

Well it's been 2 weeks since I've gone on a ride and although I put a brace on the wrist when I know I'll be possible lifting / moving things it's still sore and tender so I may give it another week before I ride again.

I had a really bad wrist injury this past year. My advice would be to put the least amount of strain on it possible so it can heal faster. They take forever! If you can't stop yourself from riding though, definitely wear the brace.

I'm starting to realize that now. I figured I could ride easily and be fine, but that wasn't the case. It would start feeling better and one little tweak of the wrist and the pain came back, but worse. I've been babying for 2 weeks and it still hasn't gone away!

Mine took 3-4 months to get to the point where I could bear doing push-ups. I messed it up really bad though airing out of a quarterpipe at a skatepark on rollerblades.

Musculoskeletal injuries are of such a nature that healing requires one important step: stay completely off of the injury until it is fully healed, then gradually go back to how you used it before. That's never actually a realistic option for most of us regular people who need to work, etc, but stick with it as closely as you can. Motrin is a wonder drug for pain and swelling.
