U-lock question
I recently bought a Trek 7.4 FX fitness bike and had a quick question on the u-lock size I should get?
I do not live in a high crime area, and am looking to lock my bike when I commute or run errands, but was wondering if I should buy a mini u-lock or standard size u-lock? I did hear that a smaller u-lock is better, but does restrict where you can lock up the bike. Does anyone have any suggestions? |
The smaller U-Lock is slightly lighter and easier to mount on the frame but it does limit your "anchoring points". I use a small U-Lock/cable combo. Any type of deterrent helps.

The mini size makes it harder for a potential thief to insert a jack and pry the lock apart. But if you're in a relatively low-theft area and plan to lock up the bike in a variety of places I'd opt for the full size type instead so you don't have to search for just the right size object to get the lock around.

U Lock that reaches thru the rear stays and onto the thing you lock the bike to.. Plus a hardened security chain
you have to secure your bike To something and be able to keep both wheels . at least.. instead of a U lock I got an Abus Bordo Granit . it is a folding link lock so much easier to carry than a U Lock .. ABUS Folding Lock 6500/85 black (55160) it is their most secure heavy model, they make others that are lighter .. |
