It's actually a motorcycle camera that's weather resistant and with a remote lens. I put the main unit and a usb battery pack into a water bottle and used a gopro mount on the handlebar.

Actually, I'm surprised they got out of the way for you. I see people (both drivers and pedestrians) all the time that will do things* they wouldn't think of doing if I were in a car driving the speed limit as opposed to riding 20 MPH on a bike.
* crossing a street right in front of me without any consideration, backing out of driveways, pulling out in front of me at intersections when I have the right of way, driving substantially over into my lane, passing me just to stop at an intersection because they're too impatient to drive a wee bit slower, etc., etc., etc.
