Mean-spirited, slightly racist, social-irresponsible and dangerous. Only a "jackass" would think this was entertaining.

How is this even slightly racist? The videographers used wise judgement in selecting a local venue that would statistically result in the the most efficient gathering of useful material, in this case a big city park. It'd been a pretty boring video for instance had they set this experiment up in an Amish elementary school in Lancaster PA.

Moderately humorous. I enjoyed watching. Slightly risky-dangerous. But no one appeared have actually gotten injured.
Fun aside... it was interesting to see to opportunist theft in action. No plan, no forethought, no hesitation. These guys didn't appear to be "bike thieves" as much as random passerby's that saw the value of riding home on a free bicycle. I would guess that even the cheapest lightest of cable locks would have defeated these guys.

I can see both being entertained and disgusted with this video, but if I were these guys (the filmmakers) I would be most concerned about getting sued. Its one thing to use force to defend life and property, but these guys are hurting people for the purpose of entertainment. I think one of these thieves would have a good case that they were merely intending on returning the bike to the owner (or turn it in to the police) since the bike appeared to be abandonded and unlocked. Or, the whole thing was staged.

Why does it have to be "the hood?" yes, one of the thieves appears white, but the rest of the video just reinforces negative stereotypes. Why was this location chosen? I believe this video is the literal definition of "race baiting". Also, while these thieves are definitely in the wrong the video promotes vigilante 'justice'. And laughing at the pain of others after setting out to inflict it in the first place is truly sociopathic. If karma does have anything to do with it, the last words on earth of the turd hosting this would be, "Hey, watch this...".

Hell, the cable is clearly visible in the video.
I don't see how the thieves could not see it.
Make me a bit skeptical it wasn't staged.

Did someone say this was racist? Seriously? I don't think so.
Its not very funny though. And looks completely staged. With actors.

I don't see black or white people 'stealing' the bike - just people.

Yup.
Easy to say in the comfort of your home watching a video.
People IRL committing theft are too busy looking for the owner to catch a thin wire or rope in the grass. After all...they're looking at the bike and the surroundings, not the ground. Same reason illusionists fool people all the time, all about distraction. Dumb know-it-all kids are too carried away with their own cleverness to consider they're being baited.

"We're going to leave this bike laying around in the hood and see if anyone wants to steal it."
I think the PC thing is kind of dumb, but he could have said "laying around in the park" since it's actually in a park.
Also, I've seen several of these dumb prank videos and it always seems to be white dude bro's going after black guys in the "hood" - "We're going to go try to start a fight in the hood, and then rip our clothes off and it's going to be so funny, haha, haha, duh".
I dunno, I just don't find it amusing. It's high school bully behavior to me, let's leave this bike here, see if anyone tries to take it, and then laugh at their misfortune. There's far funnier things on the internet than dumb white guys pranking each other.
For example:

I agree @BobbyG. This is just exploitation of poor people who don't have the same opportunities as most of us here. It's really not much different than the bumfights videos.

Yes, stealing is stealing. I think everyone can agree with that. However, whether this particular video is racist is another matter altogether. If the videographers/editors purposely chose to place the bike in a location with the intent to highlight a certain racial group as bike thieves, then yes, I would say that is racist. I would say also they were racist if they purposely excluded clips which didn't fit the stereotype they may have been intentionally trying to reinforce. In this video, I find it interesting that the only Caucasian-looking thief actually got away with stealing the bike. Were other Caucasians recorded stealing the bike? If so, why weren't they included in the final cut? It is also interesting to me that the videographers appeared to be Caucasian. More information about the circumstances and intent of the videographers/editors is needed to form an opinion of whether this was a racially motivated video.

It was probably staged, extremely stupid and highly dangerous but a tiny bit amusing. It is one of those things that your normal brain says "well that's just stupid and not funny" but your primal brain says "bwhahaha his nuts...pow". Granted the guys intro and the guy who was narrating was annoying as hell.
@bengreen79: We cannot, from this video, discern what opportunities/money that those folks have or didn't have. From looking at the park it doesn't look like it was in a poor neighborhood, it actually looked like a pretty decent park in a pretty decent neighborhood. A lot of grass, trees and paved paths as well as a skatepark and tennis courts. I think you made some assumptions about the folks who took the bike (if this wasn't staged, which is unlikely) which didn't quite need to be made.
Sure, people of color generally have a harder time because they have been kept down for so long and yes exploitation is wrong but if you on your own free will decide to take a bike, that is on you. It is not a racial thing, it has nothing to do with opportunities you may or may not have had or social status of any sort, it is just poor parenting which people of all races, sexes, and creeds can experience. If your parents didn't teach you stealing is wrong it has nothing to do with anything but your parents being bad parents and if you disregard your parents teachings on the subject, that is again on you and you alone!

We don't know who and how many got caught stealing all we know is what the guys chose to show. Therefore the video could be biased toward the authors of the video point of view and not the actual reality. Furthermore, even the choice of place that the guys chose is biased toward their viewpoints. Reason why it isn't evidence.

If anything, the video is more sexist than racist as there are no females shown attempting to steal the bait bike. All of the perps were younger males. This just reinforces the stereotype that young males are more likely to be thieves than females or even older males.
And yes, I'm being the Devil's advocate in case anyone wonders.

Hopefully the bike had a helmet warning sticker on the top tube..... Just to protect the guys from liability.
Although, perhaps it wasn't the head that needed protection.
The wonders of a tall stem!!!
I wonder if they ever got the bike back after it was actually stolen
