What's the Best Odormeter
I have a cheap Giant one. It stinks.
Any advise on a sweet one? |
I'm getting good results with a wireless Cateye with cadence. Installation isn't too bad but programing the device can be a pistol (I just left it on EST)...
|
I downloaded this app called Cyclemeter onto my I phone. It's pretty neat. Keeps track of every ride in history. Displays a map of your route. Now, I know how far & how fast I'm going no matter which one of my bikes I ride.
|
My sense of smell isn't the best, so I could use one, too.
|
I don't see the point of an odormeter. Just shower after every ride, always wear clean cycling clothing, and wear deodorant.
|
Your dogs nose?.....I hear pigs have good ones also.....
I have a plain jane wireless Catseye, has worked good for many years....Doesn't play well with hub generator lights close by though. |
Your nose is the best odor-meter and more sensitive than any instrument you can buy. Of course, dogs, bears and pigs have even better odor-meters.
|
I was behind a guy on Saturday where I wish I could have turned my odormeter off!
|
You don't need an odormeter if you can tell it stinks.

I think your nose would be good, but if you have a dog, their nose would be better.

You're not alone. @McBTC did. Sometimes it's the little things in life that smell so sweet.
I was referring to Cateye's odormeter! |
Iv got a Sigma and it works well. Tells me everything I need to know. Odometer, speed, average speed, ride time and more. Cateye is supposed to be good too, but the one I was looking at doesnt give me a ride time, and that was important to me.
Also, no need to get a wireless, a wired one really is fine, its up to you in the end but you can save money on a wired one. Look into Sigma. |

Wired odormeters stink if you travel a lot with your bike. And what is with all this saving every penny possible? People waste electricity every year by keeping lights on needlessly but they don;t want to spend and extra $20 for a wireless odormeter. |

I had a Sigma odormeter and it stunk. The button on the bottom edge of the unit was a poor design. When I would stop to take photos during bike tours the weight of the front panniers would cause the handlebars to swing. The computer button would hit my left thigh as I stood taking photos and cause it to reset. The first day of a tour in Montana it took me half the day to figure out why the computer kept resetting.

It cost me $21.98 with free post on ebay. Cant go wrong. |
Is there an app for that?
|
Are odermeters made in the ol' factory? :D
|
You can get a Giant odormeter that stinks fixed surgically, celebs do it all the time.
