Abbreviations... What The Hell You Talkin Bout

I understand a fair number of abbreviations. But there are some that I don't get. For the sake of my reading experience, please enlighten me on the ones you know/use. And I guess to keep it interesting, which ones don't you know and have seen online?

Ones I need to know:

potd
fwiw
ymmv

lmgtfy. let me google that for you.

Acronyms are often obscure. But both Firefox and Internet Explorer let you highlight a word, right click, and select "search". It almost always works.

I'm getting used to this. I was reading a paperback book recently, and kept wanting to highlight stuff and do a quick search lookup. Doesn't work with paper, though.

Ha, the https://lmgtfy.com/ site is down. Now, it's back up.

Those are just common internet abbreviations. You can do a google search for those.

Here's a list to cycling abbreviations, terms, etc. That's not a new thread, so it's possible a link or two might not work ...

As someone noted, you can look these things up for yourself. For example, Google "****" and you will learn that it means "in before the lock."

BTW

I coach teenagers and one boy would often say BTW. Said it was short for "by the way". I had to inform him that saying bee-tee-dub-bul-you is five syllables. "By the way" is three syllables. So "BTW" is actually long for "by the way". I'm a mean coach.
