Do you have many bikes collection. Do you ride them all how do you keep up with all the bikes. Do you have all of your bikes ready to ride or not?

All I have is my recumbent bike and trike. I gave up the DF torture machines 10 years ago.

A modern road bike, a vintage road bike, a hybrid and a trekking bike. So four. I try to ride them all each week. I put30-40 miles a week on each one.

I rarely ride either of my single DF bikes, but do ride the tandem and triplet, as well as my recumbents fairly often.

I have two bikes counting the cannondale comfort hybrid that is now my wifes bike. I mostly ride the specialized crosstrail, but the cannondale is just so comfortable I find myself riding it on balmy days because it's such a pleasure.

I have 10, and they all see saddle time. 2 of them are currently not ridable (missing things like tires or cables etc) but they will be used once I finish them.

Some get used more than others. I typically only mountain bike in the late fall, winter and early spring while the trails are mostly quiet. My CX bike hasn't seen much riding yet, as I just got it/finished building it, but I am taking it with me this winter to see the inlaws and ride some of the gravel rails to trails.

Road bike 1: Cannondale Synapse - modern carbon fiber. Sees a lot of time during group rides
Road bike 2: 1979 Raleigh Competition GS- vintage. Sees a lot of usage on solo rides or rides with one or two friends. Recently used to complete a century

Commuter 1: 1987ish Peugeot tourer that has been modernized. Sees heavy use, 12 miles each way. 2-3 times a week
Commuter 2: Trek Soho Single Speed. Sees lighter use, usually 3-5 miles each way. Usually 2 times a week. It is lightweight and small enough to fit into my wife's car.
City Bike 1: 1991ish Peugeot ATB (Canadian made) Lives at work. Used for errands or to grab lunch. Will either be selling or giving to dad
City Bike 2: 1978 Raleigh Sports (English 3 Speed) Just got. Needs all new consumables (on order) and grease grease grease. Hopefully up and running by December.

Gravel/CX Bike: Converted single speed bike boom bike Royal Regina, made by Superia. Haven't seriously used it yet, but only because I just got it built up. Have some serious plans for it this winter.
Mountain Bike 1: Cannondale Trail 7 - Modern 29er hardtail. Bottom of the Cannondale line, but serviceable. I only tend to ride the trails when other people think it is too cold.
Mountain Bike 2: 1996 Proflex. Need to run cables still, and either track down special ferrules or get more cable housing.

Neighborhood Cruiser: 1972 Schwinn Suburban (Chicago made gaspipe). This one was a freebie. Somehow it is fully functional, minus the brakes, but needs a full tear down and rebuild, as well as new brake pads. Gets me around the neighborhood or to pick up Chinese takeout

I have one commuter road bike, steel frame from early 80's, I have one commuter hybrid aluminum frame from 2004. I have a rigid steel frame mountain bike from early 80's, and an English three speeds from 1963.
My commuters are the one that seen more action but I ride the other ones too on occasions.

I don't collect bikes to collect them (though that's cool if you have room); I collect bikes to ride them.

My bikes reflect my riding style. They all become touring/commuting bikes, because if I don't commute on them they don't get ridden much. Also, if I can't ride occasional dirt or gravel on the bike then I won't ride it much.

I maintain them all the time; one bike will head into the basement for maintenance and/or modification, and the other bikes fill its spot in the rotation.

I have five bikes:
1) Touring: '97 Rivendell Road 650b conversion (lugged 753 steel) w/ drop bars, 3x10 bar-end shifters, fenders, dynamo lights, front and rear racks.
2) Gravel/touring: '88 Schwinn KOM rigid 26er (lugged Prestige steel) w/ drop bars, 3x9 bar-end shifters, dynamo lights, front and rear racks. (currently torn down and headed to the powder coater)
3) Gravel/cross: '13 Foundry Auger disc (carbon fiber) w/ drop bars, 2x10 SRAM double tap, fenders, dynamo headlight, frame bags.
4) Fat/MTB: '14 Specialized Fatboy (Aluminum frame/carbon fork) w/ Jones Loop bars, 2x10, SRAM grip shift, fenders, frame bags and rear rack.
5) Roadie: '97 Giordana XL-ECO (lugged Excel HT steel) w/ drop bars, 2x8 Sachs/Campagnolo Ergopower, small handlebar bag. (this wonderful bike is for sale because I never ride it. 700 x 27 tires are too skinny!)

I had a decent Cannondale headshock MTB ('04 F400) but it was completely replaced for trail use by my Fatboy, so the Cannondale is on loan to someone else.

I have a couple project bikes (mediocre hybrids) awaiting some refurbishment before I sell them locally. I have a couple other junk bikes awaiting donation at the local bike co-op.

Yeah probably ... this has been going on since I was about 6 years old. I grew up in a bicycle family.

Rowan and I do have a whole lot of bicycles ... that 21-ish, I mentioned is shared between us.

Rowan does pretty much all of the maintenance right now, and most are ready to ride.

And we select the bicycle to ride depending on where we're going to ride and how we feel.

For example, if we're going to ride some local trails, we'll go with mtn bikes. This weekend we spent the weekend in a flatter part of the state, so we brought our tandem. Last weekend, we did a time-limited 100K ride that included three relatively lengthy patches of gravel (a few km each), so I opted to go with my touring bicycle because it is comfortable and I can get up a reasonable speed on it, but it has wider tires with a little bit of tread and so would handle the gravel better than some of my other choices. Just to name a few ... :)

29er rigid mtn bike that I haven't ridden a lot this year but probably will start riding more often this winter
27.5 slack hardtail mtn bike that I just bought and love sofar, might make riding the rigid more unlikely this winter
26er hardtail was my first real bike and isn't worth anything so I keep it round. I keep fixing it back up thinking I'll ride it, ride it once then end up stealing a part of of it to keep one of the other bikes running
26er full squish that isn't really mine but lives at my house and hasn't been touched by it's real owner in 2 years. Has a dead rear shock so I haven't ridden it. Stolen some parts off it too :)
road bike for those rare occasions were I feel up to risking my life by riding on the road.

4 for me:
DB hardtail 29er - gets used 1 to 2 days a week
Cannondale Six5 - my roadbike -my main ride most of the year (warm months)
Cannondale R800 - trainer bike- used in winter, vacations, or whenever just for fun
Bianchi Axis- CX bike- I commute on it 3-4 days a week, main ride right now/winter

Had a 2014 Fuji road bike I gave to a friend.

i have 5 bikes one mountain bike 26" wheels one TT bike and 3 road bikes. Two of the road bikes have 126mm drop outs the other two road bikes is 130mm. In the 126mm dropouts i use 130mm hub wheels. Before i think to have one set wheels and good tires for the tt bike and road bikes and swap them when i go for ride. But that take time replace cassette how do you keep up with tires innertubbes wheels cyclocomputer in your bikes.

You found your first one yet? give it 30+ years ... build a bike you dont want to sell, but find another bike you want, buy it..

Four bikes here, but I want a '16 Giant Toughroad SLR 2 so bad I can taste it. It makes no sense either as I already have that niche covered with two bikes. I just want something new. :o

2010/11 Giant Roam 2:
Just today I swapped wheels and adjusted the brakes as I'm going to use this bike on the Cycleops 2 over the winter. Trued the back wheel a smidgen too. I've ridden this bike more than the others this summer. It's a fun bike. I'll probably give it a complete overhaul in spring '16 and change it over to 9 speed with the left over bits from the M60 overhaul.

2003 Raleigh M60 (major upgrades):
I recently completely overhauled this hybridized MTB by stripping it down to the frame, cleaned it, washed it, waxed it and put on some fresh cables and new bits (derailleurs, shifter pods, BB, cranks, brakes, Ergon grips). It was up and running until this afternoon when I decided to clean & repack the hubs, which are the only things that hadn't been done during last month's overhaul. Damned if I didn't drop a bearing on the garage floor and can't find it! :twitchy:

2004 Raleigh Supercourse:
This one recently received it's spring cleaning for 2016. I've repacked the hubs also. It needs a chain and pedals before it can be ridden. Just install and go cat go.

2014 Specialized Secteur (custom build):
This was a warranty replacement frameset for a 2004 Sequoia Elite that developed a crack in the frame this spring. It needs about a day's worth of work before it can be ridden, but I'm going to recut some of the cable housings and do some other top secret neato stuff before I call it finished. It's taken a while to put together as I've been buying new bits for it over time as finances allow. There won't be much Sequoia left in this bike. Not much at all.

All my bikes are ready-to-go.
7 roadies + 2 mtn + tandem + beach cruiser + city bike.
Now that the kids have their own apartments, I wish they would get their bikes outta my garage. I need more room.

Ship their bikes to me---I get to add to my collection that way and so do you.

My collection is small number compared to many here on BF: 6 bikes all kept in riding condition and I ride each bike roughly once a month, except in the winter, then it's only the two MTBs.

I'm lucky to have a large garage and Lisa (wife) has talked me out of selling any of these bikes.

The other thing about this collection, you might be shocked at... how little I spent on these bikes - one was a prize, one was a gift from a neighbor, three were bought at year-end with major discounts, and one (Pugsley) was bought prime-season, but my LBS treats me like a king and I still got a nice discount.

A whole bunch. Some are can be ridden come cannot. Most were were purchased at low cost or given to me. I enjoy tinkering with them. I do sell or give one away occasionally.

I only have two bikes... not much of a collection. The one that gets the most saddle time is my commuter/touring/e-bike (2008 Rocky Mountain Sherpa 30.) Due to weather conditions that prevail in the Puget Sound area it is best equipped for rain and carrying a load.

Bike #2 is a carbon fiber road bike (2015 Cannondale Carbon Synapse.) It gets saddle time on great weather/light load commutes as well as group rides and fitness rides.

I have a couple of bikes that I would love to add to the "collection." Surly ECR for bikepacking, gravel/trail rides, and snow/ice commutes. I would also like to add a road bike with full fenders - a nice trek domane with hydraulic discs and Di2 shifting would be a dream.
