Kona Rove AL VS Kona Dew Plus 2015s

Hello all, I'm new to this here site and just really want some honest opinions.

I'm looking to get my first real bike, by which i mean a bike that i didn't get off craigslist for fifty bucks and falls apart on me slowly and surely. I'm looking for something that's durable, capable of commuting in rain and shine, doing some light touring/camping with a dog, and something that will generally kick some serious ass. I'm looking at kona's because they are within my price range [something under 900 since rn i can get them both on sale], they seem to be good, durable, highly recommend bikes. I'm just unsure which is best for me and can't find an actual comparison...

Kona Dew Plus 2015 review - The Bike List

I'm really looking to see if someone has personal experience with either of these bikes, the sort of bikes I've traditionally ridden are usually mountain bikes or some kind of road hybrid. Nothing I took much consideration into buying beyond if it was super cheap or not. I live in Seattle, which is hilly and rainy. I would be mostly using this bike as a commuter, but really want something able to go on short touring trips/camping trips as well. I know I'm asking a lot out of one bike, but it's something I'm planning on investing a lot into both financially for me as well as time and effort wise.

Riding wise, I don't believe I have a preference. I'm used to riding sitting up on flat bars, but am not against switching to drop bars for the right bike.

All in all, this is my starter bike, and I'm trying to ask this forum for some helpful advice to a newbie that really needs it.

Always a good idea to post links to the bikes so members can easily research the bikes you are discussing and not accidentally spend time researching the wrong bikes and thus end up giving you bad advice.

Is this correct? Kona Rove AL 2015 review - The Bike List

And this? Kona Dew Plus 2015 review - The Bike List

They seem to be Very different bikes at widely different price points, so I am not sure.

Flat vs. drop bar is purely personal preference---how do you prefer to ride, sitting in the wind or bent over under it?

Both seem to have low-end Shimano stuff, which is fine.

Please post more accurate link and little more about what you've ridden, how you plan to ride, and what you prefer.

Thanks Maelochs, I added some info the first page. Very new to the bike world and am just trying to figure out which is a better fit, and the main difference between the two because I can't say I understand all the lingo out there.
