Now THIS is How You Prank Bike Thieves

Compared to last month's video some one posted, here no one gets physically hurt, with no negative ethnic stereotyping, and well...okay it's not as funny.

So it's funny and perfectly acceptable to show white people stealing bikes in Europe, but it's somehow slanderous/racist to show black people stealing bikes in the US?

Someone needs to explain this double standard to me as I've always believed a thief is a thief.

It's funny because it's in a populated town square. The bike is parked near other bikes. There's a giant van that says "We Love Cycling" and the end result is a band playing. There's no harm coming to the person.

It's not funny because it's a bunch of white kids putting a bike in the middle of a black neighborhood park, the person stealing the bike is always a minority, getting electrocuted, and then laughed and pointed at by a group of white kids. That's race baiting and that's racism.

Welcome to 2015; you can't laugh at a bike thief getting what they deserve because their skin's a little darker

So you have god-like powers and can tell that all of the black people were poor downtrodden blokes and the Europeans were not? That's amazing! Maybe the European thieves were downtrodden homeless drug addicts looking to make a quick score for their next fix. Amsterdam is full of them. And I'm in no way saying they were, just that it may be a possibility.

The truth is you don't know jack, yet your making assumptions based on race and race alone. That makes you a bigot.

Besides, I think it's great when a thief, regardless of skin color, gets 1.21 gigawatts applied to their arse! Good times.

All I'm saying is it's one thing to laugh at a bike thief, it's another to laugh at someone less fortunate than you.

Right, but if he succeeds in stealing the bike then he has a bike and is thus more fortunate than the former owner ... and thus fair game. Downtrodden no longer .... unless it was an aluminum, not CF bike that he stole.

It was a horrible looking cruiser. To be honest, I found it comical that someone would want to steal such a bike.

And it very well might not have been racist and you're all exactly right, but why not do the trick anywhere with any group of people...why was the trick only done in what looked like inner city parks, and why were the only people stealing the bikes black? I'm sure the same trick would have worked in any suburban neighborhood park, any common space at a college university, any boardwalk, etc.

How is it that you are so sure that this was the case? Why jump to the conclusion that this was racially motivated? Theft is theft; fry them all! There are many poor that never steal anything! There are wealthy folks that steal from the less fortunate. Race and income has nothing to do with it.

OK. I only watched the clip in the other post once, didn't dwell on what else they might have put out there. Their behavior is just as re-pungent as the thefts caught on tape.

Regarding the cruiser bike in the hood with the rope tied to it. Put your race card back in the deck. At the end of the video it was a white thug that actually got away with the bike.
I was not aware that being "less fortunate" changed any laws. A thief is a thief. Rich or poor.

What a load of Horse crap, any ass hole that steals a bike needs to feel pain, rich, poor, black, white, it doesn't matter.
Maybe I should come and steal your bike and you can play me a song.

I agree with the anti-race card group. I definitely grew up "less fortunate" in neighborhoods where white people were the minority by far. Guess what, I never stole a godamn thing. Most of the people in those neighborhoods didn't either.
I dare any of you to bait thieves by going to the neighborhood in your city with the HIGHEST crime rate; if a black person takes the bait, you must be a racist.
Having said that, yeah, those bros on the videos are total ******s. It feels good to see thieves get their comeuppance, but looking at the lineup of videos that SpeshulEd posted, these guys just want to get a laugh by hurting or scaring people. I doubt too many people will mourn when one of them inevitably gets capped in the hood.

I know what you mean. I haven't seen the video(no high speed data), but as a black man, myself- it's probably still funny.
