Tires for Trek 8.3 DS. SUGGESTIONS?

Tires for Trek 8.3 DS. SUGGESTIONS?
Hello,
I ended up getting a 2014/2015 Trek 8.3 DS. So far I have no complaints! I love the bike. I did take it on some trails yesterday and had a blast. Does anyone have a recommendation for a meatier tire? I went to the bike shop where I got the bike from and I found out the biggest tire that will fit is the 29X2.0 which limits what I can get. Any suggestions will help. The one that catches my eye the most at this point is the "Bontrager Connection Trail Hardcase". It is the end of the season here in Michigan so I have some time to pick out the best tire. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!
